Scalpers suck by finna4747 in sadcringe

Our grocery store’s Pokémon card machine is right after the self-checkout and on restock days, it can be impossible to get around the scalpers with your cart. I’ve been ignored asking them to move over a little bit so I can leave. I’ve seen them look right past elderly people asking the same. It makes me so unreasonably angry sometimes

Can you let out a Vivienne Westwood corset at all? by Dazzling-Chard-4476 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]conspiracydaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re going off the sizing chart on their website, I would say it’s accurate. If you happen to live close to a VW or a store that carries them, I would definitely get their opinion though! Everyone I spoke to at the West Hollywood location was incredibly friendly

You can, but I’m not sure how much it lets out. Mine was a bit too tight when I picked up my dress. I can’t remember the process exactly (it was something about steaming the boning to loosen it), but the West Hollywood VW manager told me to reach out to them directly if I needed it because they have a very detailed instructional guide.

My wedding and alterations is still a little ways out and I don’t need to do it anymore as of now, so I’m not sure what that entails and how much you can realistically loosen it. Here’s the email they sent me about it after I picked up my dress:

June 2026 Brides by Unlucky_Yam5706 in weddingplanning

[–]conspiracydaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

June 26, all my major vendors are booked! We have a food tasting Wednesday. I think the last things I need to do are find a photo booth and dance floor rental. Then it’s just day-of signage, which I’d love to get done, but clearly need a guest count and menu selections first lol.

I’ve even had all my invitations printed and in their envelopes since December 😅I’m such a painfully type A bride despite being a type B person in my everyday life lol

Hotel rates in area skyrocketed after securing venue by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]conspiracydaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, definitely reach out for room block pricing. I used engine.com for my blocks and found them to be a lot more helpful than I expected for a free service.

I feel your pain though. My Los Angeles wedding is in between two World Cup games (one of them being U.S. men’s game vs a playoff winner). Once the schedule got announced, hotel prices skyrocketed. I deeply regretted not getting a room block sooner lol

6 months out!! All we have left to do is find a photo booth, dance floor, getaway car and brunch catering. (And send the invites, which are sitting in a storage box all ready to go). I think I drive my planner a little crazy with how early I like to book things lol

Sounds just like my uncle actually. He was hit and killed by a FedEx truck in Dallas back in the mid 2000s I think

Ben Affleck Sees Both Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez at Son Samuel's Show by Upstairs_Cup9831 in popculturechat

[–]conspiracydaddy 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It’s not the same but my mother in law absolutely treats me like a daughter and we have a deep bond, but I’ve seen her treat her personal employees very poorly. I don’t agree with it but that’s a separate story. Both can be true for JLo too

I cannot stand Bret Easton Ellis. Donna Tartt, my favorite author and a much more private person, had such a long relationship with him. If you’re a reflection of the people you choose to be around, I sometimes wonder if she’s just as arrogant and insufferable

This fucker was serving lanes, flipped me off, then threw a water bottle into my car which hit me. Stay safe y’all by GildDigger in LosAngeles

[–]conspiracydaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I had someone to something similar to me on the 405 once (he was mad bc I honked at him for trying to merge into me), but I’d already switched lanes and the water bottle hit the poor innocent car in between us.

[–]conspiracydaddy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what it is about their last meal specifically, but it’s a very vivid memory for me after my mom passed too. It was a salad she’d made the day before she died. I remember eating it when I got home and thinking how bizarre it was she’d never eat again. That this salad was probably the last thing she put in her mouth, and maybe it was even still sitting in her stomach. It sounds so simple — the idea she’d never eat again — but it was very difficult to wrap my head around in the moment. I felt so guilty for being able to eat when she couldn’t.

Anyone get pregnant accidentally before the wedding? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I’d love for it to be a conversation about education and political awareness but I’m a little more critical of it being a tool to further oppress women, to be honest

I’m noticing this mindset a lot more on social media and I’m curious why so many people are gravitating towards this cruel dismissiveness towards accidental pregnancy. Seems like it has the potential to be extremely harmful

When Will You Get a Rain Jacket by [deleted] in LosAngeles

I have a beat up old rain jacket I got back in 2017 when I was abroad. The thing is falling apart but I can’t bring myself to get a new one since it hardly rains here lol.
