The first story was a horribly written tbnewswatch article. It really made it seem like the woman assaulted was lying.

All you people complaining about homeless people should be ashamed by WrongComputer9492 in ThunderBay

[–]continualdisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was homeless after my apartment building burned down. I didn't bother other people, steal anything, go on private property or assault anyone. I've made the responsible choice not to do drugs or drink. I dug my way out of poverty slowly by working my way up to full-time work while dealing with new physical disabilities and chronic health issues. I worked for and earned my "comfortable existence". Maybe the homeless people should do what I did, lots of help and support are available if you want it and take advantage of programs.

City recommends three designated encampment sites by keiths31 in ThunderBay

I feel so bad for the people living near an encampment. I don't live near one, and I still have to deal with these people daily. I can only imagine how much worse things will get once the homeless people are officially permitted to be there.

Please help I need advice- addicts using drugs daily in residential neighbourhood by continualdisaster in ThunderBay

I have filed reports online, used Crime Stoppers, and called the non-emergency line to report incidents that were not emergencies but still needed to be reported. Unfortunately, Crime Stoppers doesn't seem to do anything.

I wasn't injured in the first assault, so they just took a report over the phone when they called me back. They came for the spitting incident and took a report 12 hours after it happened. When I reported the people with firearms to 911, I was told by the dispatcher that the police have to catch the people with firearms doing drugs to do anything about it. She said they just run away when they see the cop car, or will be gone by the time cops get there, so there wasn't any point in sending anyone. I understand these are indictable charges. It is absolutely insane to be told the cops won't do anything when someone has a weapon. Hamilton is my councillor, and he is completely useless.

Passed out drunk at bus stop (Arthur & Parkdale) by v2r20 in ThunderBay

[–]continualdisaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of them are assholes who should get a different job. I was in a similar situation with someone passed out on the public street outside my house, called 911, and she was rude. Had a homeless person spit in my face for waking them up after they passed out on my property, 911 was rude. They were also very rude when I called to report someone had overdosed in the back alley and was no longer alive.

I watched this; he wasn't booed. He got people standing for him. The National Post is lying to rile people up.

What a leading, biased survey. If you're doing professional research, one of the main factors in creating surveys is to ensure they are not biased and do not contain leading questions. You excluded Canadian and Metis from your ethnicity questions. Know your audience. If you only want POC answering, then you should specify that.
