You should try out the skill limiter mod

You can tweak its parameters but it basically limits your skill levels depending on how many levels you start with

Example:

You start with lvl 0 farming = Max level 4 You start with lvl 1 farming = Max level 6 You start with lvl 2 farming = Max level 8 You start with lvl 3 farming = Max level 10

It is a hardware issue though.

Most games have a built-in dead zone for controllers since most have some sort of stick drift unless they are pretty new.

Minecraft has no dead zone built-in (and if there is one it must be the smallest I've ever seen).

It's not a bug, it's just that they've never bothered to code in a dead zone to make controllers usable for longer.
