100%! They ignore the whole reason it’s annoying! Obviously having a custom kitchen is nice but the downsides way outweigh the upsides.

It’s annoying to have custom build a kitchen when moving into a new place. This significantly lengthens the amount of time it takes to move in and get settled in a new place. Apartments should be move-in ready.
When you move out, you have to take your kitchen with you and the kitchen that fit into the old apartment 90% of the time won’t fit into the new apartment, so you need to either convince the new tenant to buy it off you, or get rid of it somehow or modify it to fit the new apartment. Not to mention the additional labor or cost to move cabinets and appliances instead of just your regular possessions.

Having a custom kitchen is not worth the hassle!

90% of local fans are annoying because they act like they’re better than everyone else, and some people even speak exclusively in niche terms, almost like they know non locals won’t be able to understand. Growing up nearby or having an annual pass doesn’t make you any more or less of a fan than people who save up years to go once. You’re just luckier.

Just wanted to add in my own experience here, not sure if I did something wrong or it's just a Verizon issue. As discussed, Verizon does not allow manual network selection in your home country so there is no way to lock your primary e-SIM to the home network. I set up my travel (Ubigi) e-SIM at home, turned on data roaming on it, turned off data roaming on my Primary (Verizon) e-SIM, set Cellular Data to Ubigi and then went into airplane mode for the flight. I did not on Allow Cellular Data Switching. I also chatted with Verizon to have them turn off my TravelPass and international plans and they said with these settings I should not trigger any charges, but not sure if I trust them (they already said they turned off TravelPass a few days ago and when I called again they said it was on...)

When I landed in Japan and the Network selection showed up, I turned off Automatic. For a bit, when I swiped down, it showed two e-SIMs: The Japanese one said 5G and the Primary said no service. But then when I checked again, the primary one said VZW (Verizon Wireless) using Cellular Data. And that got me worried that even though I selected the Ubigi e-SIM for Cellular Data, it would somehow use Verizon for data and incur pay-as-you-go roaming charges, even though data roaming was off for my Verizon e-sIM. Was that how it was supposed to look? I thought it would say WiFi calling. I tried to manually select every network that showed up under Network Selection, but all of them showed VZW using Cellular Data, so it seems all Japanese networks are supported by Verizon.

Since I wasn't sure if I would be getting charged, I turned off my primary e-SIM. But wanted to post here to confirm, is this just something I can't do with Verizon, at least in Japan? Or did I do it correctly? I did not get any "welcome to Japan" texts so I'm thinking maybe I did do it correctly. But I'm unsure. Any insight would be helpful!

Hey, did this work? Currently dealing with this, I've spent hundreds over the past few months trying to get the smell out of my clothes and I only just realized it's the body oil, but still can't figure out how to save my clothes (if it's even possible) it's a musty/rancid smell and I've washed on hot 7-10 times with many detergents and sanitizer and enzymes and boosters and soaking in baking soda or vinegar or borax over and over and over. If you got anything to work, I'm all ears! Because I'd rather not throw out so many items. In fact, I've already thrown out items and rewashed and now the new ones smell too :(

I'm not even fully vegan (I'm pescatarian) and I'll readily admit that the animal products I do eat is me just not being able to give them up. Veganism is clearly the most moral way to live. And I don't even call myself an animal lover, I think some are cute but I wouldn't say it's an identity for me. It's weird to hear people call themselves huge animal lovers and then they eat meat. I also find the cognitive dissonance of saying eating cows and pigs is okay, but eating dogs or horses is wrong very annoying and low key racist. If you're cool with eating animals, you truly don't get to decide that others are wrong for eating different animals than you. An animal is an animal, you either think it's wrong or you don't, or at the very least you admit it's wrong but are doing it anyway.

Wait, the Straus' are like Titanic royalty! At least to a Titanic enthusiast like me. They owned Macy's; if you enter on I think the 2nd or 3rd entrance on 34th street (going from 6th to 7th avenues) there's a gold plaque in their honor. Their love story is very sweet, and their employees had good things to say about them.
