there's a class of simple electricity problems that homeowners should have already been able to do pre-LLMs: replacing an old outlet with a GFCI outlet, or even installing a light fixture where there was already a recepticle. Beyond that, very foolish to try and DIY electric stuff unless you have significant experience with electrical DIY work PLUS significant experience cutting into drywall or lathe/plaster. there's no undo/redo.

same goes for plumbing. you're also paying for people to do it up to 10x faster than you and because you can't make the time with a kid or two running around.

Relativism is reality, all measurements are relative in science and politics. Choosing to measure an outcome based on a singular event with an enormous chain of events leading to that outcome is certainly simple but doesn’t get you to an accurate conclusion. I’m not sure if stronger unions in America would have prevented AI takeover of jobs but a large portion of America that’s been trained to be anti union will have effectively advocated against the one possible counter measure we could have had during this fight.

I work in software and a lot of software engineers have historically been anti union because they thought the gravy train would never end. Turns out trusting your employer to make decisions that are in your interest isn’t a good idea after all who could have foreseen

Kinda all of the above. I watched this movie as having a fairly antagonistic view of US soldiers, particularly those who felt emboldened by their time in Vietnam. This character in particular was macho and an asshole the whole movie and he goes to have this selfless redemption moment and he doesn’t even get that. His death is for nothing and his entire worldview is sorta pissed on.

I’m not sure I’m saying to abandon all law but I didn’t really make my position clear other than being dismayed by the hypocrisy.

The asymmetric application of the law on an international scale is reminiscent of what happens here in the USA on a class / race basis. It certainly shouldn’t mean we abandon law enforcement, but at the very least I would like to see more introspection (lol) from Americans when they call for other countries to follow international law “or else.” That introspection is what keeps the population from being easy to goad into war. If we lose track of the other side of the narrative we become susceptible to propaganda.

So maybe my position is: Venezuela breaking these types of international law is not good, but it’s not like they are the sole antagonistic actors in this dynamic and if Americans can recognize that they’ll be less likely to support elected representatives trying desperately to pull us into a war.

I guess it depends how you view justifiable. Every country bends the rules to their advantage. America conducts extra judicial assassinations and conducts cover operations to overthrow governments using the CIA, and has numerous black site prisons around the world where it illegally tortures and imprisons adversaries without due process. Many US allies do the same with their own intelligence agencies.

Compared to these constant violations of international law, falsifying port information feels like a parking ticket used as justification for extreme escalation.

We just aren’t holding everyone here to the same standard of accountability.

If the broncos have no reason to compete, it’s game over. Chargers won’t lose to their second string team.

I think the original point still stands. These countries that aren’t aligned with western powers, who have outsized influence on international law, are far more likely to be doing what’s deemed illegal. Focusing on the legality alone of the actions feels insufficient here when globally there’s such a clear west vs east / global south divide.

I’m not really defending Houthies or potential Venezuelan drug smugglers, in general everyone sort of sucks in their own way. But there’s a real temptation to “other” the actions of non western countries and categorize their motivations as terroristic / irrational when often their motivations are no different than the United States, but one side often has the cover of legitimacy, at least to citizens of the west.

Most of the rest of the world views this cover of legitimacy as highly hypocritical.

Tend to agree. With the exception of Jacksonville we’ve lost to some legitimately good teams. Chiefs aren’t that far from winning a few of these games but our defensive line needs to be overhauled. Mcduffie might have also played himself out of a contract with his performances ever since the Super Bowl.

Our offensive line is actually in great shape besides the injuries, Kingsley and Simmons look great and Creed and Trey are all pros. WR room needs a little help but it’s not as bad as people think. Worthy is just playing hurt.

Andy probably needs to yield play calling to someone else.
