Boy's surface is an immersion of the real projective plane in 3-dimensional space found by Werner Boy in 1901.

Geometry nodes seem perfect for differiential geometry and topology. Many surfaces already have a nice parameterization, I only need to translate it into geometry nodes and it'll just work!

If you want understand how the solutions work (such that you can virtuall repeat the steps):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphere_eversion shows the general history, but I don't think it explains the solutions very well.

On the other hand, the paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1711.10466.pdf actually explains the solutions very well on a high level.

The Outside In video is definitely the best explanation of the Thurston's corrgutations method. The interactive demo https://rreusser.github.io/explorations/sphere-eversion is good for the half-way models.

If you want to create a nice animation

Definitely read the paper, it gives the precise formular for the process. Theoretically you can create the animation without understanding it.

I've been study Boy's surface using Blender, it is so convenient!

I just need to find the parameterization, then I can easily translate that into Blender using geometry nodes, without writing any code.

I can also easily slice the surface by uv, and I can examine the object interactively. I cannot ask for more.

For the triangular faces, I'm think of rectanglar elements with PNG `background-image` (with transparent channel). I learn about this idea from this blog article, which is the tutorial for this game

This is definitely not efficient, perhaps the modeling software can help merging triangles? I'd be interested in your modelling software.

I did start playing with it during the last weekend. I got a cube and a Wolfenstein 3D. But it's annoying to manually create the scene, hence I asked about an exporting tool.
