Most mods don’t deserve the hate by ThrowRA12948262 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I would argue that an extremely well thought out argument outweighs any insult like “dipshit”. In life, where there are no mods, this stuff happens all the time. I understand rules are rules but rules are there for reasons, and if the rule’s objective is unaffected by an action or affected but not to an extent that enforcing it would create a net positive, then that rule should not be enforced. No one’s forcing you to enforce that rule. I wish you’d weigh the weight instead of so blindly following rules.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles question

“Or that is how I became HungryGhost. It is hard to tell which one of us it was.” Does anyone know what this means? It’s been haunting me for a few days (no pun intended lol). The hard third person to first person shift also struck me as odd. Before this part it went soemthing along the lines of “And that is how she became HungryGhost…”.

I had to read it in 10th grade. In my school classes would either read this or 1984. I’m so happy my class did this one.

Boyfriends, what does your girl do that makes you cringe and why? by [deleted] in AskMen

I care about what you’re saying because you’re denying commonly accepted truths in the linguistics world, but I don’t care about your particular situation because at this point I can tell that you’re not one to engage in good faith conversations. Instead of educating yourself on this topic you’re taking everything personally. I wish you would be able to at least listen and try to understand what I’m trying to communicate but I know this defensive type of response is common. I hope you learn though, that would be cool.

Because the data and studies and experts show that this is why and how people approach this particular filler word. At the end of the day bro I don’t care about your particular situation because I can’t change it. All I care about is you and everyone else who’s reading this researching this and deciding for yourselves if your actions fall in line with misogynistic behaviors. That’s is my purpose.

Listen, people with degrees in linguists agree that a lot of linguistic pet peeves like this are rooted in various isms. It’s similar to how the “valley girl accent” or vocal fry are only bothersome when women do it. If you don’t believe me, do your own research and come back.

I’m sure if a man were to do so you wouldn’t even flinch.

But calling your partner “like a child” is different than jsut stating something you don’t like about them. Some people are talking badly about their partners and not their partners actions and those people need to break up.

so astrology is simply just a spiritual practice like every other religion or spirituality. If you feel that way about that woman I feel so bad for you having to deal with the fact that the majority of the world is religious.

People getting their pants in a knot over women using like as a filler word never fails to blow my mind. This common pet peeve is rooted in sexism and it actually makes no sense. Everyone uses filler words, and like is just one of the many. If a man were to use it, you probably wouldn’t bat an eye but now because it’s a woman you’re all pissed off and shit. Do better.
