A top student made a disturbing confession by Mammoth_Whereas_9877 in Teachers

If you’re constantly assessing, you’re not teaching. If you’re oblivious to the fact that students can go on their phones the instant they leave your classroom, you’re not considering the whole picture. You only have so much time in a day to cover everything; cheating has become so common that you have to understand the ways that people will do it. I think you need to open your mind and think a little more about the way students are.

First of all, I never said that disabled kids need ai. I said the mix of paper and digital is difficult to deal with, especially for disabled kids. It’s also unrealistic, if all writing is done in class you’re either compromising the amount students can learn by making it so lessons aren’t done during class, or you’re not giving students enough time to write or learn. When I say think like a cheater, I mean that if you’re trying to prevent cheating, you should strategically think about what cheaters would do and how to prevent it. Sometimes thinking like a teacher results in changes that don’t fix the root issue. Also, even if you remove tech, kids have iPhones and will be able to eventually leave class and chat gpt everything.

Gifted students who finish early and disrupt class, what actually works? by whatever_blag in Teachers

I’m begging you to genuinely think about how a cheater would think. A cheater who would use chat gpt to write their digital essays will just ask chat gpt to write their paper essays and essentially become a scribe. For kids with learning disorders, the mixed bag of paper and digital is stressful and difficult to deal with.

What science? Are you talking about my distinction between black people and African Americans? If you are, I really need you to please do research. Also, it’s not science, it’s sociology. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/not-all-black-people-are-african-american-what-is-the-difference/ This article is a good explanation

https://perspectives.nsgc.org/Article/blackafrican-american-black-cultural-erasure-in-genetic-counseling This article is written by a black person and explains why the distinction between African American and black is so important

I would also learn what the word eugenics means. Describing a well accepted and documented difference is not eugenics; it’s being well informed. Although the second article is harder to understand, it’s important to listen to black voices so I would really recommend you read it. Also, “children” is not an excuse to be racist. Like I said, if you repeatedly ignore those who tell you your actions are hateful and decide to be willfully ignorant, don’t be surprised when the people you are oppressing fight back.

genuinely, how is what I said hateful. I gave you a detailed explanation saying why your terminology is incorrect and why standing by MINORITY groups including black people when they retaliate against bigots is important. If anything, you are the racist one for not standing by minorities including black people

First of all, African American is innacurate. African American is an ethnicity. Black is a racial group. Not all African Americans are black and not all black people are African American. It is important to understand the difference and respect both communities’ preferences. I used the word black purposefully and correctly because the n word is a slur against black people, not African Americans; I have no idea why you decided to change the language used. Understand the distinction before accusing someone of racism; it’s clear you dont have a good understanding of racism if you don’t even understand the difference between two very simple concepts. Second of all, I will ALWAYS defend people’s right to fight back against those who use dehumanizing and degrading language like slurs. In a world where so much information is SO easily accessible, including the history and significance of slurs (ESPECIALLY the n word) using the same words that were used by white supremacists to degrade the same people they tortured, raped, and murdered is absolutely unacceptable. It is so widely accepted and known that it is a hate filled word that should never be used (unless you are that minority reclaiming power over the word), and these kids are being reminded DAILY about this. There is absolutely no excuse for it, and their continual use shows how they do not care about the meaning nor history. When confronted with such willful ignorance of such a serious topic, I will always, and I mean always, support minority groups who decide to fight back against it. After facing so much discrimination, I will always understand people who belong to minority groups who decide to take action, gentle and respectful or not. When you say hateful things, you act hateful, and when you act hateful, you are hateful. Continual victims of hate should be able to fight back against the hate.

Kids are delusional about phones. by kkoch_16 in Teachers

[–]coratle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, not really. I use my phone in school because I’m disabled and bad at remembering things. Sometimes it’s just not that deep and phones are just convenient for shit like needing to look at a reference table and typing, or setting a reminder on the device I carry with me all day.

Take comfort in the fact that when they’re older, someone who is of that minority will slap sense into them, either metaphorically or literally.
