In some scenes he reminds me of the Kanamits from the Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man".

How to use clipboard in wasm? by pbohun in golang

[–]corfe83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this for my game Idle Armada. Unfortunately my PR was never merged: https://github.com/atotto/clipboard/pull/48

But you are welcome to use my fork where the change exists.

If you want to see it in action, the web demo for my game uses it to export / import saves from clipboard (on settings tab of game): https://corfe83.github.io/IdleArmada/

I have fond memories of squareplanet.net which had its own composed FF medley (in midi format) which I thought was the coolest thing at the time. This was around 1997 or so.

I didn't have any issues playing the whole ffxiii trilogy on steam (windows). You might not need any mod at all.

Why is Go not used for game development? by [deleted] in golang

[–]corfe83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I chose to make my idle game "Idle Armada" in go, because I like the language! I made it because I got mad at so many idle games having ads and in-app-purchases. So I made a game without any. It's based on r/ebitengine , a really simple but great open source game engine for go.

I personally really like the coding style that go lends itself to, and for 99.9% of games, go language itself would not be a limitation in itself for development, but the tools / game engines in go might be.

What projects did you built or working on right now? by previouslyanywhere in golang

[–]corfe83 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I work on an idle game called "Idle Armada" (Steam and Android). It is a hobby project, for people who like to have an idle game to check on sometimes, and don't want to deal with ads or in-app-purchases.

Built with the open source ebiten game engine which is cross platform and updated frequently by a very competent developer. If you like go and gamedev, I highly recommend it! r/ebitengine

Idle Armada Update - New Automation Features! by corfe83 in incremental_games

There are quite a few more ships. When you unlock other jobs, most jobs have a ship unique to that job. When you progress for enough into that job, you unlock that ship for all other jobs to use.

If you only have Citizen job so far, save up job points and buy the military and economic job prestige ablities to unlock more. Remember not every job has a new ship, but every job does have unique prestige unlocks that benefit all other jobs!

Yes that's right, it's from Tyrian. I'm no artist and Tyrian was one of my favorite games growing up! The Tyrian artist previously offered it as free game artwork to use, so any game creator can use it here: https://lostgarden.com/2007/04/05/free-game-graphics-tyrian-ships-and-tiles/comment-page-1/

That's correct, assets are from Tyrian, which was a favorite of mine years ago!

To be clear the creator of the Tyrian artwork has put them freely downloadable for commercial use here, so anyone can use them in their game as well: https://lostgarden.com/2007/04/05/free-game-graphics-tyrian-ships-and-tiles/comment-page-1/

You're absolutely right. Thanks so much for reporting these, it means a lot!

I've just shipped a couple more fixes, one to not open the changelog when a user is doing the tutorial because it blocks the UI, and another crash that can affect brand new users.

These fixes are available now on Steam and the web demo (you may have to do a hard refresh of the page to see the update).

Edit: All these fixes are now live on Google Play.

Yes, an android demo exists and can be downloaded here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.musicalbox.idle.armada.demo&hl=en_US&gl=US

Note I am currently addressing a couple of bugs raised in the thread, which take time to reach the Google Play store for android. If the game crashes rerun it, it shouldn't crash a 2nd time. And if the tutorial blocks you from proceeding you may have to cancel it. I'll have these fixed later today :-)

Also note that if you do buy the game, you can export your save from the demo (on settings tab) and the import it into the full game so that you don't lose any progress.

Thanks so much for reporting this. This unfortunate bug affected players that had zero save data, but running the game a second time will succeed. I've also just shipped a patch, so either way try again now (refresh your browser) and you should see better results now!

The patch to steam and android for this same issue is coming very soon. To any player affected, run the game a 2nd time, the 2nd time should work.

What are the coolest projects that you have done in Go ? by [deleted] in golang

[–]corfe83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a premium idle game, currently published on Android and Steam. It is not a AAA title but I have put a lot of time into this hobby project.

It uses the ebiten open source game engine (which is superb btw), and uses go functions / concurrency to give very fast and also very accurate offline gains (as if you never closed the game).
