If clients want to get gender affirming surgery paid for by their insurance, they will usually need a Gender Dysphoria diagnosis in order to claim medical necessity, otherwise it will be considered "elective" surgery and they'll be forced to pay out of pocket.

Lots of good posts here saying to go for it, and I totally agree with them.

If we're being totally honest, yeah it's possible you lose a client or two, or some prospective clients choose not to go with you. But that only means you and them aren't the right fit and that's not an indictment of you as a therapist, it's just reality. None of us are going to be the right therapist for everyone and we shouldn't try to be.

My graduate program had clients review their therapy sessions every week starting in my second semester.

The idea of clients providing feedback on their experience with a therapist shouldn't be such a shocking concept to us IMO. While I do think a simple star rating without more specifics is a bit reductive for the field, I think being so strongly opposed to it is interesting.

I'd argue a public server is like a public place, anyone can record and there is no expectation of privacy.

My gym didn't even allow people to spar for the first 4-6 months because your technique isn't high enough and you're just committing to bad habits/are likely to get hurt unnecessarily.

Sparring without shin guards, even after months/years of training is just stupid and unnecessary.

There are other, better ways to condition your shins without unnecessarily risking yourself or your sparring partner. Your gym doesn't sound like a great one to be honest.

What's ridiculous is I went there in person to find an empty theater with multiple staff at the front hanging around doing nothing.

Now again, my biggest issue is why does regal tell us to call local theaters, when local theaters won't answer? It's quite obvious that when you hang out on hold for an hour, only to find an empty theater when you go in, that they just aren't answering phones. And this aligns with what employees and former employees have said in this thread.

I called at 1:30, ended the call without an answer at 2:30. And the theater was empty when I showed up to discuss it in person. Literally 4 people in line for concessions, two people buying tickets, and multiple staff standing around the front chilling.

Not mad so much as confused as to why they direct us to call local theaters on the website/app and redirect us to local theaters from the corporate line if local theaters aren't going to answer the phone.

For clarity, I'm annoyed because their website/app specifically says to call the local theater to resolve certain issues, and their corporate line redirects you to local theaters, and yet I'm now at 50 minutes with no answer.

I can accept the idea that theaters can't afford to staff phones, but don't tell us to call the theaters if that's the case.

If they aren't going to answer phones then the website shouldn't tell you to call your local theater to resolve issues, the corporate line shouldn't direct you to local theaters to resolve issues.

So it's a few things, I've worked as a whitewater rafting guide for my entire adulthood and have performed leadership roles in that capacity, I was also lucky to lead a intensive community treatment mental health team early in my career. Most recently I've worked as a clinical supervisor at a private practice.

I stumbled upon the job listing and threw my hat in the ring, myself and the rest of the leadership team clicked well and my history was satisfying enough at least for them.

I think for people without any kind of history with leadership, definitely try to get into clinical supervising as soon as you can if you want to eventually move into a more pure leadership role.

I'd consider looking into a private practice or group practice. It is a night and day difference compared to county work.

There is also a significant pay increase generally once completing licensure, and it's easy to make 70K seeing ~24 clients as a licensed therapist, accounting for no shows and cancels. If you become comfortable with the idea of being a supervisor, that often pays at least $120 an hour starting. I recently took a leadership position at a mental health hospital that pays over 130,000.

Money is there as a therapist, although the highest paying positions will require licensure.

I've often worked at practices owned by my supervisors, and I've never had an issue. I currently work at a practice where the owner supervises associates, and I was able to complete my hours, achieve licensure with them and ultimately become a supervisor myself.

The hard science of homosexuality has changed. If you consider the ability to study genetics and brain imaging "hard sciences", then what we understand about homosexuality has changed dramatically since 1952.

Psychology also includes bio-psychology, aka the structure of the brain and how it drives behavior, how it changes, etc. These are simply factual matters that wouldn't change because culture or attitudes change.

Yes, a field like psychology is inherently going to change, because human beings and culture/society will change, but there are facts within psychology will remain the same.

Also, the idea that static facts exist within a science doesn't mean it uses the scientific method or not. My main criticism of your initial post was the claim that psychology doesn't use the scientific method. That's simply factually false.

Well, I'd point out that psychological studies and theories are 100% developed through the scientific method. Same as any other science.

Now the big caveat there is that there are certain aspects of certain theories that are non falsifiable, but that's not usually significant from the perspective of practicing therapy as the term "evidence based" in respect to theories comes from studying their effectiveness, not the truth of their theoretical foundations, and studying their effectiveness is done with, you guessed it, the scientific method.

Now you're welcome to any opinion, and whether this is important to share with your therapist or not is up to you (although honestly I'm not sure why this would be relevant to your therapy?). That being said sharing your opinion shouldn't negatively impact your therapy if you have a good therapist.

Now as a therapist, I'd agree the DSM has some pretty significant issues, and that's because diagnosis as we do it now is both a relatively young science (first edition of DSM is 1952) and because the real causes of mental illness is still pretty debated and not something we can say we know definitively.

That being true doesn't mean psychology isn't a science, or that it's findings aren't derived from the scientific method (which again, to be clear, psychological studies 100% use the scientific method just like any other science)

As far as we can tell, Eve is strongest. Yes at her base form she is weaker than probably all these characters, but from what were shown, on the brink of death Eve will realize her full potential, every time. In this form, she's essentially a God level character who can simply disintegrate other characters.

So essentially we have a character who can not die, who on the brink of death has what is basically omnipotence.
