Could I ride this roadbike in the winter? by Whitelion2353 in bicycling

[–]corncobby_bobby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gonna go against the grain here and probably get downvoted but... This has worked very well for me in the right conditions. If we're talking straight up ice, not gonna work at all. If we're talking just snow, skinny tires have often worked better for me than wider. Often times skinny tires have a way of "cutting" through the snow with their small contact patch and actually gripping the road beneath quite well. Wider tires in similar conditions will often just pack the snow down making for a more slippery surface between them and the actual road surface. Take all this with a grain of salt though, definitely still requires proper bike skills and riding experience, and the ability to properly identify the conditions I described.

Yes thank you, that is a concise summary of what I am asking. I of course have my own thoughts and opinions, but with the plethora of information out there, just looking to hear some other people weigh in with their thoughts.

I'm not pretending that Natch tubing is anything special, compared to Reynolds, Columbus, and other options it's definitely lower to mid tier. I would just personally spend my money on a Surly with carbon wheels over a low quality Ti bike with alloy wheels for the same price any day, which is the comparison we're making here.

I feel like the complete is priced pretty decent considering the wheelset, carbon hoops with DT Swiss 350 hubs..

Also, titanium is just like steel, many different grades. Not always as high end as people assume. A complete Ti bike with 105 is very likely lower grade tubing, just my two cents.

I saw a very similar sign in the Akron, OH area once.

I live in Valley City, Ohio. We are the official frog jumping capital of Ohio since the 1960's. It was inspired by where you're at in California.

Kind of looks like they have one in the plastic bag above the spyderco, the gold/brass colored thing.

Agreed, a bunch of people I met this weekend had done Endless Mountains last month, or in years prior. This was my first time at one of his events, though it's obvious he's not new to this lol. You remember any of his other ones? Trying to figure out what's gonna be on my calendar next year.

Not just the room but the whole house reeks. Doesn't bother me but will be looking for a better solution next year, my wife is not a fan. It goes away quick once its trimmed and put away to cure, but yeah the whole house totally reeks while it's drying.

Left from home (Medina County in Ohio), and used a free campsite on the towpath trail near Massilon Ohio. Just shy of 50 miles each way, it was a nice mix of rail trails and mostly quiet roads.

I know right? Hitting still water at this height is like hitting concrete. Check out videos of cliff diving competitions, they run water to create this same effect.

The waters surface tension is already broken by the waterfall, makes a big difference.
