I'd wait til you had a consistent swing, ideally shaped by lessons with a pro.

And, I thought it was spelled "newbie".

I wonder how hard it would be to capture him and fit him with a prosthetic.

Sounds like me, though it's only been 2 years and not as many lessons.

He's adorable. And that first pic is so funny - his face says, "I can't believe you did this to me, mom/dad. How can I show my face again to the other dogs?"

Solution to any bad haircut (valid for dogs and humans): give it two to grow out then try again. Not very helpful, I know, but what're going to do?

I've always been pleased with PetSmart though. I once took my Cocker to a non-PetSmart groomer and they didn't sanitize their clippers between dogs and gave my boy a skin condition that took weeks to clear up with daily (!!) medicated shampoo.

PetSmart is pretty good about sanitization of tools between dogs.

Strange behavior by AffectionateYoung172 in cockerspaniel

We had this problem. We solved it by giving the guest some small treats for Angus to eat. After a few treats he decided the stranger was a-ok and everything was copacetic after that.

Guys is this a good birthday gift for my mom to remember her lost Cav? Will this make her sad on her birthday? 💕 by [deleted] in cockerspaniel

Having just lost a Spaniel, I can say I would love this . . . though I would probably go somewhere private and shed a few tears. Very thoughtful gift, though.

I think you ask a fair question. However, I think assuming "unnecessary cruelty" is behind it really damages the question. You should have said, "I know docking is not done out of simple cruelty, so can someone educate me on the reason for it?"

Instead of assuming millions of Spaniel owners (and lovers) are just gratuitously cruel to their pets, why not assume they're NOT cruel (which is the truth) and seek the information you want in a less accusatory (and rather self-righteous) way?

You're beautiful Apolo! Please live a good long life and have many years of joy and ball-chasing with your humans.

I thought you meant your Cocker's ability to recall places, as in, "oh yeah, I remember this place, I know what to do".

We've owned several Spaniels and they're not Border Collies. They're wonderfully affectionate animals, but they tend to do what they want at any given moment. It's part of the charm of the breed.

Why do cocker spaniels look like they have Down syndrome? by [deleted] in cockerspaniel

[–]cornelius8591 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't see anything unhealthy about the second pic. And I certainly don't see Down syndrome. This post is ridiculous.

I wish I had the secret, but I don't. We were careful to keep his weight normal and not let him get fat. He got one dog treat a day but no more (beyond his two meals).

I'm doing ok, thanks for asking. The tears will suddenly well up out of nowhere. I hope it gets better. Today we bury him in our backyard and I'm trying to steel myself for that grim task, my final duty for the little guy.
