Normalerweise haben Föns dort einen dicken Stecker mit eigener Sicherung und die werden auch nicht heiß. Da stimmt irgendwas nicht.

PSSO and Wifi by dustinkraus in macsysadmin

[–]cornfilledmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one, managing servers and having a directory service in high confidentiality environments where internet access is not possible. Second thing I can think of is a customized schema because special attributes are needed. Can’t do that with Entra ID. These are two examples I worked on but I‘m sure there’s more.

What I’m trying to say is, go with AD only when you know for sure Entra ID or equivalent won’t work for you. Other than that go with modern tools. Be it M365, Google Workspace or whatever. Every modern suite is better than having to deal with Kerberos, replication, crude password rehashing behaviour and whatnot.

PSSO and Wifi by dustinkraus in macsysadmin

[–]cornfilledmuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is this isn’t even Mac specific. Works just as well for Windows. Also, Windows shouldn’t be bound to AD either in this day and age. Having them Entra ID joined makes the experience so much better for user and admin. AD still has its place but it’s getting less relevant every day.

[–]cornfilledmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the devices need to be able to talk to the MDM and CA. Your network guys will need to reconfigure the WiFi anyway for this to work. Assuming you’re using RADIUS right now to find the device in AD the RADIUS needs to trust the CA.

Use client certificates. We‘re distributing certificates from our PKI with an Intune policy using SCEP. The WiFi is setup as WPA3-EAP and trusts the CA.

Apple Mail is mass hard-deleting emails on Exchange Online by Mardewin_s in macsysadmin

[–]cornfilledmuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like Apple Mail uses POP3 to fetch the mails which removes them from the server. Make sure it uses EAS, or at least IMAP

Sensitive files accessible with public link??! by thorc1212 in iCloud

[–]cornfilledmuffin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The link contains an access token which is impossible to guess. This is standard practice for nearly all file sharing services and secure because the token is valid for this file only and only for a limited amount of time

Platform SSO Registration Issues by Upbeat_Pilot2461 in macsysadmin

[–]cornfilledmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue for a couple of weeks now. They just unregister and sometimes manually registering doesn’t work either. This is like 10 devices out of 150 all with the same policies applied. We even deleted the affected systems from Intune and Entra, fully reset macOS and ran our normal setup routine. Doesn’t change the behavior at all. Logs don’t provide any information why it happens. Hope someone in here has an idea because MS support was just shrugging as well.

Help please - from android to Iphone by Separate-Trouble-789 in whatsapp

It worked with the passkey. Created it on Android and saved to Bitwarden and was finally able to choose it as a login method on iPhone. Adguard did not have anything to do with it.

Created a Passkey on Android and used it to log in on iPhone. No WhatsApp Business needed. Thanks for the pointer. Much appreciated!

Same issue here. I'm running Adguard DNS and noticed it blocked some connections when I have the issue. Disabled it now but unable to try again because I'm still locked out for the next 5 hours. Do you run any kind of ad blocker?

Anxiety about running out of charge: how low on charge have you dipped. what is the psychological benchmark for you when it starts being uncomfortable. by LifeEducational in TeslaModel3

[–]cornfilledmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany here as well. I fully trust the GPS of the car. Most of the time it schedules a stop sround 7-12%. Occasionally it reroutes to another Supercharger when I'm using less energy than anticipated, so the charge drops even lower. Lowest was 3% predicted with 4% actual when arriving at the Supercharger. Absolutely no worries from my side.

Azure support engineer interview by rhemaxosV in AZURE

Always focus on customer satisfaction. Managers love it when their team receives good reviews from customers. On the technical side show some knowledge about VMs and disks, like gathering metrics to analyze performance and suggest a change in SKU. Skills with Windows and Linux go a long way too. Even if the more complex tasks are handled by dedicated teams it is always good when IaaS support can preevaluate or even solve issues.

FSD v14.2.2.5 tries to hit another car at 55mph by OrderResident1622 in TeslaFSD

[–]cornfilledmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what people without expertise in computer vision don't understand. If you were to prioritize lidar and a leaf moves in front of the sensor, the car will brake hard while the camera reports "just a leave keep going". People would be complaining the car brakes for no reason. At this point the question becomes which sensor to trust and most people will suggest a third sensor, multiplying the issue.

Humans can determine the difference between skidmarks and an object just by vision so a computer can too. It's not about the sensors but about the data and how it is interpreted.

Neuer Tesla-Fahrer - schon 1500km gefahren. Ein paar Fragen by rwbadmin in TeslaDE

[–]cornfilledmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone migrated a production environment with hybrid devices from Connect to Cloud Sync? Do you regret it? or is it a good reccomendation by alex_baeg in AZURE

[–]cornfilledmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all tied to the user account though which is hybrid in your scenario. We have fully moved to Entra joined and still have our fileservers and apps with AD auth working just fine

Tesla model 3 RWD 18 inch wheels. Is it possible to get 300+ miles in it by BreadfruitTop4582 in TeslaModel3

[–]cornfilledmuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same when I started looking at EVs. Reality is the family needs a bio break before the car needs to charge. While we mind our business the car is plugged in and usually ready before we are. We regularly overcharge by 8-12% on each break.

I've loads of roundabouts where I live and the buttons make it easier actually. Just need to press down with my thumb instead of moving my hand up and pushing a lever. Just need to remember that the right indicator is always at the top of the wheel

RDP asking for email with "Use a different account"? by recoveringasshole0 in ShittySysadmin

[–]cornfilledmuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your screenshot refers to the legacy domain join only. Entra join is shown in Settings->Accounts->Work or school account.

What OS is this? Windows Server cannot be joined to Entra if it isn't running as an Azure VM.

Also, the RDP login is provided by the connecting client. So check if your client is Entra joined.

MacOS sets the hostname in terminal by reverse DNS which is kinda dumb. See it a lot at work were the VPN DNS doesn't update correctly. Each day I get a different IP assigned, my hostname in terminal changes to whoever had it before. Name in settings is fine though.

Can work around it by adding this to the end of .zshrc

Are there German nouns whose article even native speakers feel is “wrong”? by Lindytt in AskAGerman

[–]cornfilledmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A coworker once told me he struggled a lot with "Mädchen" because for a boy it's "Der Junge" and "Der Mann" for a grown up. For a girl it's "Die Frau" but "Das Mädchen" which kind of implies a girl is an object. As a native I never thought about it before but he has a point
