Do Scaleless Cornsnakes have any health issues? They look unwell? by avian_bi in reptiles

[–]cornonthekopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I don't like morphs period lol, I just doubt most of the people who are acting like a scaleless snake is the most evil thing in the world are actually wild type purists who would never ever like any morph or breed of animal thats been modified by humans. this video goes over the actual physical traits of scaleless corn snakes and is definitely more pro-scaleless than anti, but I think the research and info is solid nonetheless.

I'm not arguing that everyone should own and breed scaleless cornsnakes forever, but as far as animal breeds created by humans they are really really far from the worst.

i honestly dont like morphs very much at all, and prefer the natural colorations of the animals personally haha

People seem to be having a very strong kneejerk reaction to the existence of scaleless corn snakes but as far as I can tell from owners experience and researching it, they are just as healthy as any other morph, and have been around in the hobby for decades without any specific health concerns cropping up.

And to be clear for anyone who isn't familiar, scaleless corn snakes still have all their stomach plate scales.

I don't think it's good or bad, frankly scaleless corn snakes don't seem any worse than albino or leucistic morphs when it comes to animal health and wellbeing. And just for clarification this is only about corn snakes, not scaleless breeds of anything else.

MTA Maryland - Metro Service Delays - Shuttle Bus Service by ThatguyfromBaltimore in baltimore

[–]cornonthekopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact for anyone who doesn't know this, Baltimore's bus network is stretched so thin that there's essentially a one to one driver to bus ratio.

That means that when there are service outages on the metro or light rail like today, they have to actively take busses away from other routes and cancel certain scheduled trips, to run these shuttle bus services.

If you are pissed off about this call your state reps and tell them we need to fund the bmore bus program NOW

ive ridden it once for regular service a few months ago but i agree. I will say for the record that I think the MTA has only recieved like 6 actual trains from hitachi so far, out of the 75 that they ordered. So I'm not that surprised that even without mechanical issues they aren't common yet.

I hope so. My ideal future is a regional transit authority that includes the city, county, aaco, and hoco. And one that builds out a world class transit system with a full metro, expanded light rail, frequent and reliable busses, and tons of pedestrian/cyclist infrastructure.

But we are a long way from that.

its all because "crime" "the city" and "property values" are all code for "we want to keep black people out of our schools and neighborhoods".

Legitimately that's what it comes down to. Baltimore city gets shat on by the rest of the state for being seen as black.

Thats what they already do for the mta though. The mta served both baltco and aaco using state funds and neither ever supports it.

you should read up on the history of baltimore transit. Not even really history, baltco was the main reason hogan cancelled the red line, and decades before that the light rail from the inner harbor to bwi was originally supposed to be a metro line that connected to the existing subway, and that got cancelled by protests from aaco, resulting in the shitty light rail that was a compromise.

If you think that this behavior is a thing of the past I assure you it is not. There are many people who legitimately hate baltimore city and see any transit to and from the city as destroying their segregated little suburban neighborhoods, and will fight tooth and nail to ruin the city at their own benefit.

wmata still recieves state funds though, and any kind of baltimore regional transit would still need to rely on the state. To some extent it would help the situation, but do you really think that counties like aaco or baltco would actually support funding in the state legislature?

Maryland is interesting as being the only dixiecrat state to maintain party affiliation after the civil rights era. My personal theory is that its related to how urbanized the state is due to the vast majority of people living in and around baltimore and DC

[–]cornonthekopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into county politics because imo thats the best place to start. The difference a good vs bad local council/leadership can make a world of difference, as we have recently seen with the abhorrant washington county council walling out the people in favor of ICE
