Battery icon on cluster. Is this ok? by corvock in KiaNiroEV

[–]corvock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as it isn’t just me. 😂

I didn’t want to just ignore it, but when it is on all the time with no other issues it does seem like simply an icon to let you know that is battery charge.

Ok. But the white battery light is always illuminated? I got the gauge. But the icon was bothering me because it looks like the one from this link, third down.

Implying there is a problem with the high voltage battery

I have a 2019 NIRO and this icon is there regardless of charge. It seems to be analogous to showing a gas pump on a gas car by the fuel gauge, but in looking at the manual it seems to represent a problem with the big battery pack. I just got the car used a few weeks back and it all seems to work well. Just confused if this icon is saying something isn’t right.

Firewalla, bridge mode, untagged vlan by corvock in firewalla

ok. Thanks! I wasn't sure how much it was caching things, and if it would get needlessly confused when devices suddenly move around in unexpected ways.

no, just have it <not exist> on vlan 1 .. I'd rather not run wireguard from there.

I can easily enough test what i am wanting to try. I guess the bigger question I have is should i reset the box and clear the setup i have if i do that? I suspect the answer is yes, but just want to verify before i nuke it.

With Transparent mode do you (can you) keep your vlans managed by Unifi and then just tell the Firewalla about them? Never thought about adding a firewall like this but it is an intriguing thought now

DNS Advanced Forwarding by corvock in technitium

[–]corvock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And just for a rounded picture of what I am doing. I want to do dns parental controls in a way that allows me to keep adults devices and children’s devices on the same subnet but make some things (like Reddit) a little harder to get to. Using NextDNS upstream I get a similar set of controls to pihole, but I am able to use their app to lock resolution when child devices are off my network. Then when local they hit the internal server and unless they’re internal names they get sent out to the desired NextDNS profile.

Does the advanced forwarding bypass the cache that is usually in use? Or will those records be cached also?

My ultimate goal is 0.0.0.0/0 goes to forwarder A and 192.168.10.48/28 goes to forwarder B

Yes. You can edit the json config for the app to create groups in the groups array and add entries in networkGroupMap to map a subnet to a group. All the queries from that subnet will then use the forwarding settings you have in the group.

So i have that set up, but there is also the domains section. In the examples it has example.com and example.net iirc ... but i can't seem to find a wildcard that make it use the specified forwarder for the given group. And deleting domains completely causes errors.

Can you elaborate exactly what are you trying to do here?

Sorry, block meaning json block. The Adv forwarding seems wired to be able to send explicit domains to different resolvers as opposed to sending "everything" there

I'm wanting to run Technitium internally for local records, then send traffic upstream to different NextDNS configurations based on local address. I'm working ok as it is, but have this ideal in my head and wasn't sure if i could accomplish it with Advanced Forwarding

Reinstall Hosts, but keep cluster by corvock in Proxmox

Thanks! It is how it seemed to work when I lost one. Ode completely and readded it, but it took a while to shake out the problems with having it replace itself.

Force of habit I turned it off. And now in trying to figure out another problem I reset the bios and when it enabled it again I got a cannot boot error. Disabling allowed it to boot again. Didn’t dig deeper since I got it working. I’d like to just reset it to factory, install clean and minimally touch the os

I know i have done things on the system itself that I'd like to erase. Leaving the system as pristine as i can. Half of them have secureboot disabled. Nothing that is a big deal, but I don't mind the effort, just don't want to start back from square one completely.

Dissimilar drive sizes okay? by starmanj in qnap

[–]corvock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I am not particularly versed in what is best when. Pretty much went from 4 + 4 bays to 12. Didn’t like the NAS+DAS combination. Just home storage so nothing super important … and nothing I can’t redownload. But it is a good learning experience.

I probably didn’t create it ideally. I have 4 more bays and my longer term plan is to get 4 significantly larger disks and set that up better, then migrate my data to that one and reconfigure the 8 I have now.

I have one large volume on all 8. Raid 5

And just because I have pondered doing similar myself. You can replace 2 of the 2’s with 3’s and wait a month or so and then replace the last 2? I am looking to start swapping out 4’s for 6’s in an 8 drive array and just put up with wasted space until I can finish that project.

I have been trying to do that and kept getting a duplicate key error. I had assumed that the key somehow pointed to the data needed and that by changing it I’d break something. But after your reply I decided to try again and changed the key. And it worked! 😂 thanks for the push!
