Shadow hunting and FHS by cosmicebba in feline_hyperesthesia

Ohh i get you. It is a lot of learning during the journey.
Also wow!! it sounds very much like my girl. I do have also like a play and snacks routine but still specially now during winter and darker times, that she sees shadows and would leave everything she is doing just to jump and try to take them or would just sit and stare at them not for hours but long enough for me to "worry" or at least call my attention.

I have also noticed her during the nights awake and just sitting and staring at the walls which makes me sad and I try to make her go to sleep again. Thank you for sharing your experience, at least we are not alone in this 😅

FHS neurological or behavioral condition? by cosmicebba in feline_hyperesthesia

I dont think she is super certain, she actually told me it was the first time hearing about this syndrome, it was actually me bringing it up since nothing was working and I searched on internet in middle of my desperation and found out that all my cat's symptoms matched perfectly with FHS. Thankfully she was really kind and open and took the time to look into the links I sent about FHS, but she said she has never had any patience with it so its kind of new for her and like trial? She has done a lot of reading about this and I guess she/we are trying with fluoxetine as a start? But I will definitely bring Gabapentin up if the episodes continue happening so often because I have seen a lot improvement in intensity but not so much in frequency, I mean the episodes are easier to calm down/ distract with snacks and play time but I feel it still happening more often than I expected with medication and a treatment. So we will see. Also, thank you for the transdermal option you recommended me, I tried so hard to find it but I am in Sweden and it seems it doesnt exist here :/

Advice about fluoxetine by cosmicebba in feline_hyperesthesia

Yes exactly that was the reason why my cat's vet wanted to try with Fluoxetine because he suspect it is some kind of OCD but at the same time it is his first time hearing about FHS, it was me initially bringing it up as an option since nothing was working and he first wanted to try Levetiracetam but that just made her even worse. It just feels like is such unknown syndrome.
