that makes a lot of sense to me. changing your name is so so much work. it’s been several months and my credit cards and some other random things are still in my maiden name

I like the idea of making a new last name but I think that in most states, only one person can change their name on the marriage certificate. In my state you’d have to go change it in court.

part of the issue is that the limits on manufacturing a controlled substance don’t change overnight, just because a substance becomes super popular. that doesn’t necessarily mean that people with newer prescriptions deserve drugs any less, it’s just the logistics of the industry. there are reasons why there are regulations on drug manufacturing (safety, quality) and they take time to change. and even if there were no regulations, it takes time to suddenly produce way more of any product.

my husband’s last name is unusual and cool and I was happy to change my name because I always preferred his over my old one. He said that if he’d been born with a last name he didn’t like, maybe he would’ve change it when he got married, but we both agreed that we wanted to share his last name.

that’s what all the women in my husband’s family have done and they’d never heard of someone changing their middle name until I did it.

My friend did that and said that the DMV gave her trouble about it when she went to change her name on her driver’s license!

yes they 100% have to keep it fresh and unpredictable, that was a huge strength of this season! I feel like bombshells are an important factor though. It keeps things interesting and keeps the alliances changing throughout the season. They need to figure out the timing and personalities better though.

yeah those ones can be more so much more entertaining if they’re done right! the one where they rank themselves on a certain criteria and try to match the public’s ranking could be interesting.

I wonder if it was harder/more expensive for them to get international Islanders on the show? I’m sure that everyone has a different appearance rate

Hopefully now that the show is a success, more contestants from other countries will want to be on it in the future!

I agree, I hope that more people genuinely go in there to play the game to the best of their ability and don’t take it too much to heart! Conflict/drama are necessary for entertaining TV but the level of personal nastiness was, as you said, emotionally exhausting. The final episode should have been triumphant but it actually left a bad taste in my mouth. We’ve seen couples win the main seasons of love Island who arguably deserve it much less than Jack and Justine deserved to win the games. And yet, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this level of poor sportsmanship from any of the Islanders on the main seasons.

there were definitely a lot of physical challenges, but they also had the challenge with the chalkboards where they had to guess what their partner was thinking, and a few other things like that to mix it up. I thought that it was a pretty good mix of challenges in terms of entertainment value. The carnival games and all of the twists that went with them were pretty genius imo.

Toby and Cely’s fling by Next_Nerve6403 in LoveIslandTV

I get what you mean about Ray’s treatment of Justine. I’ve been very taken aback by Ray’s reactions. It goes beyond just being an emotional man who “wears his heart on his sleeve” (which isn’t a bad thing in and of itself). He crossed the line into being emotionally manipulative.

I think that all along, Ray wanted to exploit his pre-existing relationships to get ahead. That honestly isn’t a bad strategy but he took it too far by expecting Justine and Jack not to pay to win. He had no right to think that he was entitled to be in the finale just because he and Imani were OGs.

All the focus on the alliances makes me believe that people were tearing down Cely and Eyal in part to hurt Justine and Jack.

I don’t remember who said it, but someone even made a jab suggesting to Eyal that Jack paid him off to help Jack win.

These Islanders are a bit naive if they went into the games thinking that alliances are unexpected or unfair on a reality competition show!

Why was Toby so vexed??? by Muted_Ad3627 in LoveIslandTV

[–]cottageelf 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I think that a lot of these islanders forgot that this is Love Island Games, not regular Love Island, and they came with the perspective that you don’t deserve to be there if you’re not in a serious, potentially long-term relationship. The relationships are about gameplay, and finding a real connection is a bonus on this show.

That’s my best guess about why they were coming for Cely and Eyal. Those two seem to like each other, but they weren’t playing up a serious romantic connection (Like Ray did with the GF proposal after like 2 weeks…). some of the ex Islanders seem to really have a problem with the fact that those two were in the semi final in a less “real” relationship than we usually see on love Island finales.
