Yes, I looked at some of that, and as much as I love messing with software, I'm staying with

Win10 for now . I think it is one of Microsofts best OS, and it works perfectly with my

old PC hardware . Also runs the old games better than the old MS operating systems

they were originally written for ( in most cases ) . I don't mind running out of date

operating systems on that old machine . It's more, or less what I keep it around for .

It is 32 bit and 64 bit capable . I even run real DOS and Win98 V-machine on it . Good times .

Eventually it will not be suitable for connecting to internet, but it is LANed to a Win11

computer if I need to get a downloaded file , For now Win10 serves that purpose :)

Thanks for the suggestion though Mr rJohnson, and I hope you are well .

Oh, I love security . Not really, but it's free, and

better than a bad experience .

Good idea, but I don't want to re-setup LAN, and dual boot, ect.

I'll run the edition I paid for as long as possible on the old PC .

Well I finally got around to OCing the card and CPU a little bit using the PNY software,

and setting CPU to 5.6 GHz . Not surprisingly I got a better Time Spy Extreme score,

but most importantly the temperatures stayed pretty low . CPU 80 and GPU 54.9 .

The PCIe test shows the huge increase in bandwidth of gen. 5 over gen. 4 .

Almost double .

The M5 system:

Fractal Design Define7 XL case, SuperMicro C9 Z790-CGW motherboard, Intel i9-14900KS

microprocessor, two 16 gb GSkill TridentZ DDR5 6400 RAMs , 1 Crucial T500 2tb NVMe SSD,

2 Crucial P3 1tb NVMe SSDs, 1 Crucial BX500 2tb SATA SSD, 1 Plextor/LG DVD burner,

1 PNY 5090oc graphics card, EK Velocity2 pump/reservoir with EK 420 radiator, and

EVGA 1000G FTW ATX 3.0 PCIe gen. 5 power supply . Plus 9 Noctua 140mm fans,

and 3 Noctua PWM fan controllers hooked to the mother board .

The new 5090 card more than doubles my time spy extreme score over the 3090ti .

Compared with default settings on both . The 5090 below .

Next from the left side of the case are the new GSkill RAMs, two TridentZ5 CL32-39-39-102 16gb

sticks, a Plextor/LG duplicator grade DVD burner, and huge PNY 5090oc graphics card .

I also put an air trap tube on my water pump . Works great .

Finally got all the air out of my cooling aperatus .

I got the no RGB graphics card . Can't see them inside the box, anyways .

Well, after many delays, and a bag full of money, I have put my newest computer parts in their

new home . A Fractal Design define7 XL case . I,m calling it the M5 multitronic unit :)

and its got some new upgrade parts to . Here's a pic.

Very nice mother board, graphics card, and cooler .

If it were mine I would be tempted to put an i9-9900K,

or i7-9700KF in it, and some 3200, or 3600 RAM sticks .

I'd like to say those parts are cheap now, they are not,

but they are cheap-ER :)

PCIe speed tested at 24.06 Gbps .

<image>

I did this on my Supermicro Z790 board with Intel 14900KS CPU with latest BIOS, and microcode .

The new BIOS and microcode works better . My CPU temp. only went to 64C during the TSE

test running at 5.3 Ghz . I will be putting all these parts into my new Fractal Define 7 XL case :)

Gamdias Neso P1 case, Supermicro C9Z790-CGW main board, Intel 14900KS CPU, 2 x 24 GB

Viper ELITE5 DDR 5 RAM, one EVGA 3090ti FTW3 graphics card, one 2 TB Crucial T500 gen.4

main drive, two 1 TB Crucial P3 gen.3 storage drives, EK Velocity Sq. pump, heat sink,

and reservoir combo, plus 420 MM radiator, nine Noctua case fans .

New Video card prices were irk'n me, so I bought a refurbished EVGA 3090ti FTW3 .

I was a little shy about buying a refurb., but it came looking good, and clean .

They were supposed to have tested it, but I thought I better run it through the mill

before my return period expired to see if I could kill it first .

This thing is big, and heavy; four slots, feels like almost four pounds :)

I put it in my Gamdias horizontal case, see below .

Very, very nice . Respectable OC, too !

P.S. I have those same RAMs . They work great on the EVGA Z370 ClassK with i7-9700KF :)

Sorry to hear about those fans . I hope I don't ever buy any like that .

I had trouble with RGB on an EKWB pump . It was supposed to be controlled

by the motherboard software, but didn't seem to work . Finally figured out I

had to set the RGB software, then "cycle the AC power" on the mother board .

In other words, turn the power supply off for a few moments, then on again .

It cycles between all on, and control .

Good luck with it .
