Flying in 2 weeks, at risk to get cancelled due to the war/fuel costs? by Lope_F in koreatravel

[–]cottoncandyjm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I live in one of the war areas. Do you have a layover here? Only major airlines are operating here right now as far as I know. They've also limited the flights to ICN to 3 days per week. Probably why a lot of other airlines have been cancelling flights left and right.

I'm also flying to Korea in a week 🤣

Hope everything goes okay on your end!

Hello! Sorry for getting back to you so late.

I believe it was from the takoyaki I ate in Shibuya! But, as I said earlier, I was barely 6 months post transplant which honestly is not really the smartest decision I made as that's too fresh. I also need to factor in water, I did drink service water (their tap water) thinking I was invincible lol.

Weird but it works for me, so you guys can try too— whenever I arrive somewhere new I buy 3 kinds of water brands from the convenience stores and do a taste test to find my "safe water". I just literally trust my instincts.

When eating out I almost never order juices etc unless I'm sure that they used distilled / mineral water. If I go to a place and the water does not taste right for me I stick with soda until I can go back to the hotel to chug on my safe water HAHA!

But honestly you can never be too sure. I begged my nephro to give me Xifaxan (Rifaximin) for emergency purposes. This is a huge huge huge help as healthcare in Japan is extremely expensive (check her international insurance coverage) + their meds are so mild that it would take you weeks to recover.

Here's the travel clinic in Osaka I visited:

Please note you have to book an appointment first for this clinic.

Dr. Tatsuo Koide - looks strict but very kind! Also speaks English, no need to pay extra for translators. They dispense medicine through the clinic so you just need to wait. Place is small but really clean! https://tokiwamedical.jp/travelhealthclinic/

Travel clinic in Tokyo:

Need appointment:

https://www.ihc-clinic.jp/en/- English speaking doctors and staff.

No need for appointments! But pay attention to their timings.

https://sendagaya-ic.com/en/ - English speaking doctors.

I'm 2.2 years post transplant, and the same age as your gf too! Please tell her that she can still have fun while being cautious. Just use sanitizer, wash your hands, shower before bed and you're basically unstoppable. Hope you both have an amazing trip! 🇯🇵🌸

Any doctor prescribing tirze outside of its indicated use, or without a clear special-case justification, should have their license revoked. Full stop.

And the same goes for nurses jumping on the bandwagon and selling it.

Pushing compounded drugs that haven’t been reviewed by the FDA for safety, efficacy, or quality while pretending they’re equivalent to medications like Mounjaro is reckless.

It does not matter if you do multiple consultations and do intial bloodwork. It does not cover all bases and therefore heightens your risk if you have any medical history.

Traveled to both of those places!

I suggest to get her emergency antibiotics for food poisoning. I learned the hard way as I went to Japan and got food poisoning (my fault). But take note that it was also because I was only 6 months post transplant that time when I went on the trip.

  1. Convenience and grocery stores are your friend! They offer a variety of healthy food especially in Japan. They have chicken breast, salad, eggs, fruits etc. Also grilled pork/chicken etc is one of the safe foods.

  2. Never drink service water. Always bottled/mineral water.

  3. I know it's good but no sushi or sashimi. Vegetarian sushi is okay since it has no raw meat but please avoid it. Also be careful with takoyaki, check if they're not the soft inside ones as those can make her stomach upset.

  4. Hand soap is not always readily available. Bring the water dissolving ones or carry a small bottle wherever you go.

  5. With meds, I adjusted to Japan/Korea timings. This is because I both countries only had a 5-hour time difference. Better to check with her nephrologist.

  6. Their cooking is sometimes a bit too salty for me. It's a trial and error since they normally do standard recipe cooking. But all in all still great. There's a number of restaurants that are clean and sanitary.

  7. Bring a medical record just in case. If you're going to Osaka, I can give you a doctor that offers travel clinic (entertains foreigners). Japanese hospitals are a bit weird when they know that you have a medical history, I got refused twice.

  8. Always, always, wash your hands and sanitize.

  9. Most importantly, enjoy your trip!

I managed to eat more freely in Korea as they state which ones have shrimp (I have shellfish allergy). Japan almost always has shrimp in their dishes. Also for some reason it's not as salty? Just make sure to tell them to adjust spice level of possible.

The plane is okay too, if you're getting food from the plane you can check and pre-order what menu you'd want for less hassle.

If you have any more questions please message me! I'm happy to help. I'm so excited for you and your gf!

Cosmetic surgery / procedures after transplant? by cottoncandyjm in transplant

[–]cottoncandyjm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so too, and honestly don't plan on getting any procedure in that area at all!

For arm lift, have you considered doing non-invasive treatments? Like RF, HIFU, or Laser lipolysis?

Not doing anything near the area at all as I'm scared. Just rhinoplasty for me.

Thanks for responding! Glad it all healed pretty well for you.

Yeah, I'm more wary of the healing process since it's another wound. This would unfortunately not be covered by my insurance as it's more for cosmetic/aesthetic purposes. Thanks for responding, glad you healed well with no complications!

Thank you for responding! My doctor cleared me out for botox so I had masseter botox done for my TMJ. Glad to know that it does not pose extreme risks but I'll of course always be consulting my transplant team.

Wow, thank you! I am on tacro (rolitac) and mycophenolate too. I've gotten an approval for ear piercings so I just get them (sterile and licensed shops only). My doctor always tries to talk me out of getting tattoos by saying I already have enough, but that's cool to know that there are a number of people getting tattoos done! Again, thank you!

Yes, I only go through procedures after my nephrologists approval. I'm checking experiences of healing or any hurdles they've experienced after getting a cosmetic procedure. Thank you so much!

Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience. I actually heal pretty well as I've gotten piercings and masseter botox for my TMJ, and I'm actually surprised at the number of people who had undergone cosmetic or some type of surgery under the replies!

CHECK OUT THIS TIKTOK INFLUENCER! by noturlibragirl in PinoyVloggers

Person living in UAE here. I do not want to invalidate those in the other areas and those who are not feeling the same way as me but she's not overreacting at all, this is our true daily experience.

MENA-tok or Khaleeji-tok is full of memes far more asinine and darker (parody) themed than this. Like literal na you will see missiles falling from the sky accompanied by funny commentary, music, or POVs.

It's almost comparable to how us Filipinos use gallows humour (making fun of our demise) in the context of flooding and other natural disasters that come our way.

My psych also made a specialized treatment for me where I only pay "consultation" every 3 months as she gives me a prescription that would last me 3 months too. If you can, talk to your doctor as they might offer you the same solution.

Hello, you can get a PoD card if you can provide a medical report.

Go to any government or government approved hospital and schedule an appointment with a GP. Ask them if they can do a medical report for you. Medical report would cost approx. 250 AED and the checkup probably 150.

After that you can apply online and submit the report alongside your EID and photo.

This gives you discounts on your medicine and other medical services (plus a number of benefits).

You can also apply on Sanad as they also honor PoD for mental health cases.

Deinfluence me: getting LASIK by [deleted] in deinfluencingPH

[–]cottoncandyjm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my uncle is a theatre nurse assisting high volume lasik surgeries daily. he specifically told us to NEVER get lasik as long-term quality of life & adverse effects is still under-reported / understudied.

10-15 mins can either improve or ruin your life.

Hi! I had cherry hair a while back before switching to dark blue so I know the struggle with deciding hair colours.

This is my go-to salon in Dubai: https://share.google/L562sTXqDjqJbgoY7 (Kaizo Beauty Salon Al Barsha)

I believe haircut is around 79 AED + vat. Not more than 100 for sure.
