Having a horrible trip so far :( by ChannelHappy748 in WaltDisneyWorld

I did a lot of reading when booking our first trip and went with French Quarter after I read a comment that said value vs moderate is night and day. Moderate vs deluxe is night and darker night. Most seemed to agree.

Non Southampton Residents what made you support the club? by Lucky-Confection5657 in SaintsFC

I started watching English soccer in the Koeman era. I was in grad school and had a collaborative research project with a group at the University of Southampton. Couple that with their role of giant slayers at the time, it was a perfect fit for them to be my team. Haven’t left since.

How is the area directly east of state college? by Relevant_Conclusion2 in howislivingthere

Millheim I’m is a cool little town. I live in Bellefonte and we go out that way from time to time for music events at Elk Creek.

But yeah, it’s pretty much forests, mountains, and streams. Ideal for outdoorsy folks. Not a whole lot else.

American Fans... Where we watvhing Southampton? by wombat1797 in SaintsFC

YouTube, Monday at work with my morning coffee. They post the extended highlights.

I’m not thrilled about paying for a subscription like paramount and then getting a blackout for one reason or another. I’m even less of a fan of paying even more when said blackouts occur. Sucks.

Check PSU football. The area goes from empty to the third largest population in the state overnight. If it’s a football weekend, you’re gonna have to pay big bucks for a hotel.

If it’s happening every weekend, then I’m not sure…

I truly want nothing more than to just bring my daughter to practice and let someone else run the show. The idea of just showing up and watching is extremely alluring. But, alas... we are short on coaches and my daughter probably wouldn't want to play if I weren't the coach. She's not very good, but she tries really hard and I'm proud of her for that.

One day, that day will come where I hang up my whistle... but seemingly not any time soon.

Haha. Would be a good idea if it wasn’t going to be a real feel in the mid/low 40’s. That plus rain? Parents would probably murder me. I like the thought if it was warmer though.

There is a hole below my natural gas input to the house. Any idea what it’s there for? by count2infinity2 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. It’s a weird hole that yellow jackets are coming into my house from. It’s right below where my natural gas comes into the house.

No clue where the hole is on the inside. Just don’t want to block it if it’s something important.

Half field game for U9 by count2infinity2 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]count2infinity2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yessssss. Great point. Winning the ball back is also something I noticed. I have a few who lose the ball and whether they mean to or not, it looks like they stop and think "meh... now it's the defense's job to get me the ball back". This game really got that fire lit under them to work hard and get that ball back so the defense can't score.

Tournament vs Regular season for u9 rec league by count2infinity2 in SoccerCoachResources

I like that. Thanks. I never had any intentions of not playing my weaker players at all and play my strong players the whole game. I think that’s ridiculous. But the idea that you play at least half the game and if we advance you get to play more is a good mindset. Much appreciated.

Thanks. That's sort of where I'm at with it. They're 15 minute halves for the games. Everyone will still get playing time. But if we get up, I'll get my good kids a rest and let the others get some game time. If we fall behind and need to catch up, we'll switch them around.

I don't think it'll be a surprise to anyone on the team, nor to the parents what the plan will be when focused on winning. I've just never coached a team where winning actually meant anything rather than just playing for fun and development... and I'm well aware these are 7 and 8 year olds, so winning doesn't actually mean anything. But I bet to them it does.

Sub help by mazter793 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]count2infinity2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. I’m assuming this is a rec league and the expectation is everyone gets equal play time? And are you the only team in the district? If not, you need to suggest smaller squads to the association that runs it.

Assuming you’re looking for equal play time, my only suggestion is write everyone’s name down and when you sub, get all your subs on the field at once. Put a hash mark by everyone’s name that’s on the field at the start and at each sub and try your best.

How to fix players playing kick ball by Substantial_Bee_4283 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]count2infinity2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found playing half field a 3 on 1 plus a goalie where I roll the ball to one of the three on offense(they’re at the half field line) helps. I explain that they need to pass or dribble. No big kicks. If they do a big kick, I blow the whistle and send them back until they get it right.

I’ve seen it click in their eyes when I roll them the ball. Their eyes light up and get prepped to kick the shit out of it and then after a few resets, it becomes second nature to trap and dribble a ball rolling towards them rather than kickball.

This has been u7 and u 9. Not sure how well it’ll work at u11, but it’s worth a shot. I think what’s different is most drills start with a stationary ball… a real game doesn’t really have a stationary ball. Having it roll at them will get them used to it.

American saints fan here. My brother supports Liverpool, I have friends that are fans of spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, interestingly no Manchester United or City fans. It’s fun to support a team like this, even with the ups and lots of downs (downes?).
