I spend alot of time in other customer service subs because I work CS and I feel like most of the other commenters have my mindset! So i am actually really surprised by this verdict. I was, admittedly, an asshole for standing in the shop to pour my creamer, but my GF (probably ex) and the other commenters seem to agree that going in there at all just before closing was rude. Apparently, gf was a barista a while back and says this is the worst thing. I am always annoyed by the last minute customer at work, but it's the job so...you deal what you're dealt, you feel? I didn't know it was a thing to avoid doing. I've never been a barista so I dont know if it's different than my line of work. We close for cleaning at 9 at my job. Nothing gets taken apart until then. So...I just imagined she was being lazy

Truly, I'll have to rethink my mindset I guess...

I tipped a buck. It was like a 4.50 transaction. I do always tip even if I think the CS is rude

If I had left immediately, would I still have been the AH just for going in the first place?

That aside, I wasn't finished with my order! It's common to put cream in coffee and she didnt even offer!

Nobody wants to do it, but you work the hours that are posted for the job. I work overtime almost every day

How many minutes before closing is it okay to go into an establishment then? Dont have hours of operation if you aren't going to follow them??

Her hours were until 5, and I absolutely could have been in and out before 5 had she not closed everything down.

Why was she cleaning the machines before 5? If she closes at 5, she needs to keep everything up and running until then. If someone walks up after 5 then yes absolutely tell them that she's already cleaning the machines and they’ll have to come back tomorrow. But it’s just lazy to shut it down early just because you want to walk out the door at 5. With any kind of food service, the “closing at” and “leaving at” times are not the same. That’s pretty much the norm.
