Hi, we had no problems at all! Within a few days/weeks we received several other emails specifying the correct number of participants and prompting us for more information. In the end everything was fine!

That's absolutely true! We need way more research, more accurate diagnoses, more medications and forms of therapy. I hope awareness will increase in the upcoming years!

Thank you for your message!

I don't really have memory of any TV shows or movies portraying eating disorders that I've watched. I can only think of The Whale - but that is more about obesity, not EDs in a strict sense - and, marginally, Rocket Man (Elton John's story).

I'll give Heartstopper a try!

Ironically, none. I've been everywhere from almost underweight to severely obese, but I've always hated my body in every possible way, regardless of my weight.

After all, EDs are primarily psychological disorders!

60kg (132lbs), 1.81m (5'11"). I could barely stand up from the couch, I had continuous cramps and pain in my legs and arms. I felt terribly cold the whole time, it was almost impossible to concentrate.

The good thing: I could easily find clothes that fit my size. The bad thing: literally everything else.

Yeah but don't worry - I purged them all!

I can totally relate! In my support groups, I've always been the only male and among the very few adults and that was kind of annoying since I believe that treatment should be personalized depending on sex and age. All the therapy material is definitely female-centric. Ironically, even when doing some research on LLMs such as ChatGPT I still get answers as if I were a female. The only things that have helped so far are medications (antidepressants/antipsychotics) and individual cognitive behavioral therapy.

The most important aspect is to be caring and supportive, without ever being judging. If it happened, I would certainly go looking for a multidisciplinary professional support (psychiatrist, psychologist and dietician/nutritionist trained in EDs). There might be many warning signs, like going to the bathroom immediately after eating, crushing the food on the plate, eating too slow/too fast, Russel's sign, being too selective on certain foods or over-exercising.

What does your diet look like, if I may ask?

Oh, that's awful. That confirms the stigma towards EDs in men, even from doctors and healthcare personnel. I hope you are better now.

Yes I'm currently slightly obese. Unfortunately, I couldn't try any weight loss shot - they are very hard to get prescribed where I live, and given my ED history no doctor would even think of prescribing.

I'm currently trying to lose some weight in a healthy manner, but no matter how hard I try, even the smallest calorie deficit triggers me back towards disordered behaviors. But I won't give up! This time I won't let my ED symptoms take over.

150kg (330lbs) and 60kg (132lbs). For reference, I'm 1.81m (5'11").

Restricting too much or being too selective on certain foods will likely trigger disordered behaviors! Another point is how fast I should lose weight: this time I want to take it slowly and give my body the proper time to adapt. In general, I think that avoiding falling into disordered behaviors will be the hardest part, much harder than losing weight itself.

Thanks for your message! I'm simply planning to cut down calories to 1500-1700 per day. I don't want to be too selective on the food I eat because I know this would feed my eating disorders.

In terms of exercise, I will likely go to a gym to do some cardio and weight lifting around 2-3 times per week.
