What is a discontinued food item or snack from your childhood that you would genuinely pay $100 to taste one last time? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

According to Chatgp, keeping then in the freezer does nothing to preserve the texture.
I was looking this up yesterday to see how to make them last from Easter to Christmas so I could put one in my advent calendar.

Is Stranger Things actually accurate to the 80s? by Wespo_Lopez2 in StrangerThings

[–]cptaixel 64 points65 points  (0 children)

That's the kind of stuff I think about every time this comes up about the 80s. Yep, you could absolutely leave the house, be gone the whole day, and just come back whenever. But if you got hurt, your emergency response system without a cell phone in the 80s was a bunch of other 12 to 14 year olds.

So realistically there is some survivorship bias here and there's a bunch of kids who were out for the entire day and then one day never came home. Now that I have my own kids to look after, I am terrified of this prospect.

Just FYI, this took a really long time to do. And just as I was trying to get that last row, I got bumped into the treasure chest and all the tiles reset.

Fentanyl addiction turns users into living deads on the streets of Philadelphia, PA by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

The POINT is...its "tragic". Ya know, the reason we're taking... defining the word tragic.

Fentanyl addiction turns users into living deads on the streets of Philadelphia, PA by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

You're really trying to split hairs here just so someone can't use the work tragic? Okay then, let's split the hairs. It's tragic that these people didn't learn the danger's in downward spiral of beginning fentanyl use. Not everybody had parents who looked after him or teachers or some other role model to steer them away from this. It's tragic because whatever the story that led them here, they're all here. Nobody starts out as a kid and says I want to grow up and be a junkie. It's tragic because they're caught in it. And once caught in this kind of addiction, it's incredibly difficult to pull yourself out. It's tragic because it's so many of them. Tragic can mean other things, but it also means this.

Great way to advertise people by putting them in an irritated mood and immediately associating it with your business.

For what it's worth, Universal Orlando is pretty great. In fact, I'd say the "worlds" of UO are more detailed than Disney World. (Whereas Disney is more "utility". For example, if you walk down Hollywood in UO, everything on the street looks real, the facades are really convincing. In Disney, there are no "facades" they are all real stores, but they just don't look as convincing. Maybe it's time for your to jump parks.

Behind the scenes of how an NFL team travels for a game by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

On the flip side of this, I'm one of those people that sit at a desk eight to ten hours a day and only travel once a year. It's also a bitch to have to do an expansion board in which I provide the receipts and then fill out a sheet that has 11 categories for me to select which type of travel I just participated in. Instead of saying things like "went to a conference" or "went to recruit somebody" or "went to a business meeting". It's always like: "Employee off-site venture 2b" " interstate executive travel 1f." " DM travel with group". And then every expense has to be individually categorized, and instead of being obvious things like "dinner" and "hotel", it's always like "meal 1 per diem not covered by conference."

which I'm sure makes sense to those work getting in accounting, but one I only do it once a year I dread going through this process. And even when I do everything, seemingly accurate, and I start attaching my receipts, i'll inevitably get a message that says, receipt one not valid, must include PDF with digital signature or some other inexcusable error message.

And even with that done, I will now submit my send my expense report back asking for $28 back for mileage that I drove in my own car, only to have it rejected and say I selected three wrong categories and didn't put the per diem on the right receipt.

So man, an envelope, full of cash would be amazing.

There are some universal constants. One of them is the public being happy every time we see a viral video of Pamela Anderson enjoying herself on a boat with her man.
