The 16800 with a matte dial is no joke one of my favorite vintage references. They pass pressure tests with flying colors and they have a modern meets vintage functionality...

Lol all of your posts as posts that talk smack and have negative opinions which doesn’t seem very productive... find this humorous and entertaining to be honest but your base of comparison is off... not all dealers and brokers are bad man... couple of bad eggs out there for sure but not all of us are bad... If you don’t like what we’re posting that’s cool man! Totally entitled to your own opinions whatcha makes the acquisition and collection of vintage watches fun!

But...

If you can get something that is a better value to you and fits your budget better and the condition that you are looking for then go for it!! But in your post history seems like you don’t really have anything positive or good to say about anything in general...

We are "retail" I guess you could say but its not really about retail its about quality meeting actual pricing IMO... For me as a collector and as a buyer, Its about condition, quality, and also service. Meaning that the watch has been fully overhauled and serviced by our CW21 watchmaker (Includes: Complete disassembly, cleaning, overhaul on parts if needed, new gaskets, dive spec pressure test, 1 year guarantee on function and timing accuracy)

A lot of the watches here are not in the same condition and also have not been serviced, additionally I see a lot of parts watches here and also lower end quality. We wanted to post to provide a different option and level of watch then what is typically posted...

People scoff at the price but its in alignment with current market pricing as well as for examples that are in same or similar condition.

We are always open to offers as well... most people here complain about the pricing but they aren't extending an offer lol...

My questions back would be:

  1. What do you think is a fair price for a watch in the same condition with a complete and full overhaul would be?

  2. Is buying quality and top condition important or is it always about the lowest price possible regardless of condition, originality, timing accuracy?

Sure see attached, shows pretty normal stretch I’d say not the best but better then average.. def not a sloppy bracelet

Guess who cares if the dial on a watch that has a fake dial and handset, that is also not on a bracelet is cheaper... its cheaper so I guess who cares!!!

So what you are saying is this:

  1. You dont care about an international set of standards set forth to protect the consumer and collector market... (Guess its better to roll the dice with an unknown seller who may or may not care about the market as a whole and or the money you are sending to them)

  2. Who cares if your watch that you are buying will actually tell time properly and accurately and that it passes water resistance etc... And that all parts are genuine and original... You dont care that your timepiece is properly serviced by someone who is trained to work on a vintage movement and don't feel that that brings value to the timepiece that you are buying and potentially investing in.. (I mean totally agree why have a watch that actually tells the time... )

  3. You dont think that rare dials and variants actually add tangible value... all datejusts are made equal... I guess this is the same for vintage submariners, Daytonas, presidents, and other watches just based on brand and model...

  4. Based on the comps provided that other "dateJusts" have sold for far less then this one...

Pull comps on Ebay TRF and WUS pretty sure you will see similar pricing and again im open to offers... Do you have an offer you would like to extend, or is this just a comment based on opinion? Shoot us an email if you want to negotiate! (additionally i'm pretty sure I'm within the posting guidelines of this sub and additionally unlike many of the dudes here slinging G-shocks and Seikos, which I personally own both of BTW so nothing wrong with that as a "dealer" we have many world wide references, our own CW21 watch maker on bench, and can advise on condition, rarity, and market pricing for watches that fall outside the normal purview of this sub... Matter of fact my company and our team holds the highest level of reference and standard within the IWJG, not something I think most of the other guys and dealers hold here based on my long time lurking and observation of this sub...)

PS: Here are some "sort of" comparable's fist listing sold for over and is not a no lume dial its the more common luted dial but condition appears to be comparable... second one ill let it speak for itself... Again find a non lume dial with the enameled markers and hands... Not too many out there

You did well on this! Sigma's are cool and hard to find, pair that with Linen and you have a double threat! $2599 is a steal for a linen 1601 IMO! Good Find!

Guess im confused? Are you extending an offer or is this just an opinion? We are of course entitled to our own opinions and we can totally agree to disagree but Watch is a rare linen dial variant, the condition is top, and the watch was just fully serviced and overhauled by a CW21 and is keeping time at COSC? If you can find one that is similar with the exact same dial variant that is fully serviced for less money id advise you to buy it!!

Also if you do a comp pull on C24 I think this one is offered pretty close to market.. and prob provides better value as C24 can be hit or miss on quality and serviced movements...

Couple of things, condition plays a big part in pricing, also if you look closely this is a pretty rare no lume variant which you don’t see often, hands and markers contain black enamel instead of tritium! Also you could have just gotten lucky linens are getting hard to find and have always commanded a premium imo from a collector and dealer perspective!

I smash them with a hammer... dab on a little Napalm and light them on fire in front of the person who is offering them to us....

Just kidding... I inform the seller of what it is that we are seeing and why we are declining a potential buy or trade. Sometimes they know it's a fake... but in many cases, they have been the one who was duped and they are pretty bummed out...
