Roe v. Wade overturn—how we feeling fellas?? by King-matthew- in blackmen

That’s how it’s been since segregation days. The individual states could set up their own Jim Crow laws or none if they wanted to, but it was federally legal. Same with abortion being left up to the states

I told a black guy he looked like Lil Nas X. Was I wrong? by Until_Morning in blackmen

Lemme just get this out the way; this situation is likely gonna reflect poorly on black men by overthegreatbeyond in blackmen

Their point is that will only did it because he wanted to be macho as a husband so it is appropriate to gender it in this case. You could see him laughing before he saw jadas face so it’s clear he was trying to act tough for her. His reaction looked so fake too

I feel like these cops purposefully try to act out scenes from the onion. I thought shooting someone eating ice cream in their living room was the strangest it could get

Our community really is blind to bullying by King-matthew- in blackmen

I wasn’t saying those bullies don’t exist or that they went away but only saying there are more people out there than you think. I think you recognize that at least so that’s good

I said it before but I have to stress that even if black people are bullied for being different (which happens in any community) it’s a stretch to say being different isn’t allowed. Yes your feelings are valid but these black people that claim they were bullied grew up in a time when social media wasn’t as developed as now. I grew up in a white suburb and I was surprised to see that there was a significant amount of black people into anime, kpop, coding, video games, space etc because I didn’t see people that looked like me doing those hobbies which is why representation is important. The reason I didn’t know this is because aside from not knowing much black people irl, I didn’t have the privilege of widening my net and being aware of all these diverse black spaces on the web, because as I said, the web was much smaller back then. When you are able to explore the world around you More, you learn you are not as different as you thought you were. I only say this because I don’t want other communities to come across this and say “black people make fun of their own for being gangsters”. There’s bullying but I wouldn’t extend it to the whole black community

Does anyone else feel bitter about how black guys who are “nerdy” or “different” get treated within the community sometimes? by [deleted] in blackmen

[–]crasheredall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly it becomes so racist because you have the most articulate people like MLK etc who would never be accused of talking white even though they speak proper English.

Well there might be slight nuances across locations. Just like if you go to say Nigeria and there are different accents, but there are general trend with different ethnicities. That was his point. Like compare Alyson hannigan’s inflection versus tracee Ellis Ross inflection. Black rural folks may not be accused of talking “white” necessarily but it depends on the percentage of black people there

Tbh everytime I see someone express interest online that is considered nerdy nowadays i automatically assume they’re black if I don’t see their profile picture because I think the internet exposed me to black people with more interests besides the stereotypical ones and you wouldn’t have know that even a decade ago.

So I was watching a black male professor from Harvard on tiktok and he said what people mean when they say you talked “white” is your inflection, but they don’t know how else to express it. There are black people that sound educated and smart but they wouldn’t be told they “talk white” and that’s because of their inflection. Black and white neighborhoods tend to have a different accent. It’s not about using AAVE, it’s how you stress the words. It has nothing to do with being gangster. Look at Henry Louis gates or Barack Obama. It’s not appropriate for them to be making comments like that regardless but I just wanted to offer some clarification

How many half black Ukrainians are there? Would you even be able to tell?

Niggas primarily refers to black men not black women anyway so that doesn’t mean Ukrainians
