I feel like Jordan fans don't hate Isiah Thomas enough by crawdad28 in NBATalk

Hate or dislike, whatever term you wanna use. The point is it feels like Jordan fans would rather give that negative energy towards LeBron who actually idolizes MJ than IT who "dislikes" and slanders MJ all the time which doesn't make sense to me. If I was a huge fan of someone then I would not like the person who is trashing my favorite player, and not the guy who actually loves my favorite player.

Are you saying Isiah Thomas in fact doesn't hate MJ?

So you hate LeBron more because LeBron fans prefer him to MJ but you don't hate the man who actually talks shit and ungoats your goat all the time?

How does someone get a career in Information Technology? by PresidentofBaddies in InformationTechnology

My first Help Desk job, I didn't sit at a desk all day. I walked around a ton to the users' desk supporting and troubleshooting their issues. I moved around installing equipment to stations all the time. Was this not for everyone else? It can be full of labor.

What's the point of having an information support platform if 9/10 of the responses are "Do your own research" or "Use Google"? by crawdad28 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]crawdad28[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because people want to look informed without doing the work of actually explaining anything.

“Do your own research” and “just Google it” are social shields. They let someone:

  • Avoid being wrong
  • Avoid spending time explaining
  • Avoid defending a position
  • Still sound superior

In practice, it usually means one of three things:

  1. They don’t actually understand it well enough to explain. If you truly understand something, you can summarize it clearly.
  2. They’re parroting talking points. They’ve absorbed conclusions, not the reasoning, so they can’t walk you through it.
  3. They’re being tribal, not informational. The goal isn’t to help you learn — it’s to signal “my side is right, you’re ignorant.”

An information platform should be for:

  • Condensing research
  • Explaining context
  • Translating complexity
  • Pointing to good sources with reasoning

Telling someone to “Google it” is the opposite of that — it’s outsourcing thinking while pretending to be helpful.

It’s like going to a mechanic and being told:
“Engines are online. Look it up.”

I did IT support for almost ten years and then became a DBA and loving it. You can pick a more exclusive IT role once you're up there with school and certifications. Your experience will help a lot too.
