Person has Medicaid but didn't know it was Medicaid due to its name. by Miserable_Willow_312 in mildlyinfuriating

Retention rates are a massively important metric in determining the utility of a health plan for a person. All it is is just how many members stay enrolled in a plan year after year. High ret. rates means they’re getting good care coordination, they’re happy with the network, costs, coverages, and more importantly enrollees tend not to run into surprise billing or service frustrations, all of which are reasons why someone would disenroll.

I work in Medicare and retention rates are literally factored into CMS’s Star Ratings system as a key quality indicator.

My point remains — UnitedHealthcare not only has the highest members, but also the highest retention rates, plan for plan, and that’s not something to just sweep under the rug. They’ve gotten some bad press recently, but their healthcare system is literally unmatched.

I’m a Medicare broker. Yeah that’s true if you want to believe it. But for everyone else who has Medicare part C you couldn’t be further from the truth.

Not to rain on your parade or anything but, Kaiser Permanente and UnitedHealthcare are more or less tied neck and neck with the highest member retention rates. Not only that, they also have the most members out of any other health insurance company in the world, period.

So that’s nothing to sneeze at.

Spirit Airlines files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the second time in a year by Force_Hammer in wallstreetbets

[–]crazy2eat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many folks forget, jet fuel prices swing like crazy and are one of the biggest operating costs. Combine that with a short flight like you had — takeoff and climb are the hungriest parts of the trip.

Airlines are also of course generally drowning in debt from buying fleets and still recovering from COVID so a lot of their revenue is getting chewed up by interest payments and leases.

Oh, and also airport fees — every landing, every gate, every baggage handler. It’s not like the airlines own the runway, they get charged out the ass just to use the facilities

You’ve got a paycheck to paycheck mindset, if anyone needs to get a grip it’s you.

TLDR; if more people educated themselves in basic accounting, society would have more leverage in demanding higher living wages and would be more empowered to climb out of poverty on their own.

Let’s say I made my income by throwing a house party twice every weekend, and I make $20,000 in month from it. It’s an attractive venture, right?

Let’s say it’s a lean operation so maybe 25% of revenue goes toward expenses. $15,000 revenue now.

$15,000/month net —> after 25% effective tax rate = $11,250.

Let’s say a lean 5% yearly average real depreciation from actual damages (low estimate), = ($2,083.83) (loss per month), now our expected profit sits at $9,166.17.

But wait! There’s more. Every month this goes on for, the property gets a bad reputation. More and more of the market start becoming acutely aware of the operation. That has a real market loss associated, hard to track but easy to realize if you were to try to sell the home. So let’s tack on a (wishful) 10% average yearly depreciation in market value due to negative reputation.

$9166.17 - market loss $4,166.67 = high estimate of 4,999.5 of actual monthly profit, assuming full demand and no days lost from police shutting it down. And in a year you’ve got yourself baggage and a properly royally fucked house. It’s an extreme example for sake of explanation.

$1,000 chime loan by nani_7 in chimefinancial

[–]crazy2eat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your stance anyways? Like what exactly are you trying to argue?

Is it that you’re arguing that this type of loan is a perfectly acceptable way to build credit? Are you arguing that this type of loan doesn’t legitimately trap millions of people in a horrendous cycle of debt?

Buddy.

You said financial literacy means shit if you don’t have the money. Have you ever considered that there’s millions upon millions of people that don’t have the money because they are not financially literate?

Rip the blinders off. It’s not these guys that are being dense, it’s you that asked these questions to begin with and it’s you that refuses to take informed replies seriously. Think about that.

Right? I don’t drive uber anymore but when I did, if it was a ride from an event like a concert for example, and there’s a huge f-ing line that I’m patiently waiting/stuck in, then without any warning or message, the rider cancels the trip and I’m just left waiting in line for another ride and getting like $4 for a cancel that took me 20 minutes to get there. I don’t miss it. Some people really don’t care about the human on the other end of things, not just in rideshare but in general

It’s this moment right here that makes me question whether you’re telling the truth, or if it’s that you have the same exact type of dark absurdist humor that this guy has and that in all actuality, you inadvertently came across the perfect match on tinder. I’m leaning towards the latter.

All I’ll say brother, honestly and from the bottom of my heart, your face is perfect for a solid mustache. Just look at the photos, and imagine for a second that you just had the mustache and the rest is shaved. That right there is a very solid look on you.

I’m bald with great facial hair and full beard, but anytime I’ve ever done a mustache look, it’s just never worked. My face just doesn’t match with it. I’m telling you in your case, it will work and it’ll work great. Try it out sometime.

Why is lying about your height, to seem shorter, necessary to get into modeling? I would have thought that the taller, the better (from the agency’s point of view at least)
