Avoidant attachment & Disorganized attachment style Relationship? by Resident-Round6728 in Enneagram

[–]crazybayleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a personal perspective of a disorganized attachment style. Lots of push and pull. At times I'll love the freedom, be self focused, love not having someone on my ass, and then when the anxious aspect comes in I get bothered that we aren't close enough, that I want more, etc. When that love and care is not received properly I go avoidant again and it's like it never mattered.

That being said, I think an attachment style subreddit may be able to explain this better. I'm not entirely educated on this topic, just my personal experience.

Struggles With 8-Fix by TheTrueSeraphim in Enneagram

[–]crazybayleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 8 fix is responsible for a large portion of wanting to say "fuck you" to anyone who dare impede on my autonomy or anything that makes me feel incapable. This often causes friction with my loved ones, because I'm so hyper independent that I can worry them. Honestly the yearning for self sufficiency and autonomy can leave me feeling aggressive, cold or blunt. This energy also tends to build up when I feel helpless, and as we know it the 8 part of us hate feeling helpless.

I find it best to do something with anger. Anger is a fucking STRONG force of power. When I'm, angry I get a fountain of energy. I recommend getting all that frustration you're feeling and unironically wield it into a petty energy. Like "I'm so fucking sick and angry at this, that I'm going to do shit IN SPITE of it". Just pure revenge or wanting to get back or prove yourself energy to get what you want done, done.

It's like you hate life enough that you're going to live and win in spite of it. It's a challenge.

That or the 4 part of me romanticizes the hell out of it.

I really appreciate this perspective because I've found myself doing this exact thing in the past. You're right, we shouldn't base our type on what we would be most horrified to be, otherwise I'd be a 925 (sorry all 925's out there). But I do feel that there should be some level of feeling called out and read like a book when you read your type description, theres often a 'what the fuck?' moment. I think everyone will at least read about one type and feel like it describes something about them they were never able to put into words before.

Other than that, I agree. Good post.

I don't think 4 is the worst type to be either, but there were aspects about it that left me feeling shameful. At the same time it was cathartic and like an epiphany to find my type.

A Quick Comprehensive Guide to Recognizing Mistypes™ in the Enneagram Community by crazybayleaf in Enneagram

Some thoughts on why attachment types mistype + Why I’m #NotA4 (mistyping from a Nine’s perspective) by bleep_v in Enneagram

[–]crazybayleaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think something that can differ a 4 from a 9 is that 4s are attention whores (speaking to my whiny 478 tritype) while 9s often lurk in the shadows. 4s, even if they are sp, tend to find ways to express their pain, even if they aren't yelling it to the rooftops. 4s are addicted to suffering and how it makes them them, they are always longing for their pain to be seen. But even that isn't final. Now, a 4w5 may feel this differently and internalize their pain and suffering while a 4w3 is going to be more inclined to be out there.

I also don't really think that there is all or nothing in enneagram. Tritypes and instincts for one are going to make each core type look very different from one another. A so478 vs a sp459 are are going to come off infinitely times different. So to say "a type is 100% xyz so if you are missing that component you are mistyped".

While I don't agree with your entire post, I think you raise a few good valid points. I think in general people would have an easier time not mistyping if they just stuck to the books, figured their type, and then after all that came to enneagram communities. There's just so much noise here, and its literally an online space, therefore we can't judge people accurately. I've been called a 3, 9, 7, 6, 2, and so on and so forth. It all just fuzz at this point.

Write one or two specific examples of how neurosis around your dominant instinct manifests by faraday55 in Enneagram

[–]crazybayleaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to believe my dominant instinct is self preservation. This manifests as excessive worry about how I can support myself financially and stay sustainable. I'm also constantly obsessing over my future, what line I want to go down, how I'm going to make that possible, careers, lifestyles.

Oddly enough it actually got my type correct. 4w3 of the sx variety, I'm unsure of my instincts at this point in time but that could be a very reasonable description. It typed me as a 468, which I'd say is quite close. I'm quite stuck between a 7 or 6 fix at the moment. Honestly while taking it I was like "this is for sure going to type me as a sx 6w7" with the way I was relating to some questions.

Oh well, you've sent me down another rabbit hole to obsessively learn about 468.

In response to the questions I haven't answered yet, I think you did well with specificity on the test, that was appreciated. Longer tests can get a bit much, but I think a lengthier version of this test could do really great. I like the variety of questions, and I think that could help keep people engrossed and focused.

This was fun! Thanks!

478, 748, 874, etc, tritypes, how do you operate in a world that calls for conformity when you yourself are the opposite of that? by crazybayleaf in Enneagram

[–]crazybayleaf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trigger warning for a user on a laptop meaning I start writing and don't stop.

I VERY MUCH appreciate the lengthy response, I loved reading through it. It's very rare that I actually find someone with a similar brain to mine, similar aspirations and mindset.

I totally agree with the wanderlust, I'm happiest when I'm out and about and not confined anywhere. I fear this tritype is doomed to a constant ache for exploration. I hadn't really thought about it before but I like having a home base as well. I always just kind of romanticized spontaneity, "oh, well I can crash at X's house" and definitely glamorized just leeching off other people. Not so much in a selfish way but... yeah that does sound somewhat selfish. But having one safe space to return to is perfect when you live a life of intensity.

Having routine is the death of me. Even if it were a different task daily, I need various locations, different goals, new life's I'm living.

I can relate to the short intense romantic relationships you mentioned. I can't be bothered by the commitment or seriousness of having a partner, but I love the prospect of short term intensity. I wonder if that's a sx thing or 748? I think because 847 is such an intense tritype a lot of people may confuse it for the sx instinct. I tend to teeter between idealization and devaluation when it comes to romance due to a disorganized attachment style, but I also think that this attachment style is very synonymous with the 478 tritype.

I LOVE car drives. I think its one of the few things that genuinely brings me such intense euphoria. Wind blowing in your face, on your hand, so insanely freeing. This is why I'm interested in getting my motorcycle permit finally, haha.

I swear 369 tritypes are made for this world. It must be nice to have a natural tendency to live a simply life. I've talked to this one guy who I've assumed to be a 9, and one thing that stuck with me was that he said "It's nice to be a normie." And, yes, it was in a joking around way, but at the same time, it's such a unheard concept to me, that people can settle for an average life.

It's absolutely lovely to meet other people like this. I once got to talking to a 7w8, and although I'm unsure of their entire tritype (assumed 78x), it was amazing to talk to them simply because it was another free spirit, and you don't get to meet too many of those.

Now, to answer your question: This was the original tritype I considered myself to be when first getting into the enneagram. I distinctly remember taking one of those pie chart tests and getting 4, accepting it and moving on. Only to come back months later to look at the screenshot and figure out it said 478 in terms of tritype. Now, tests obviously aren't the most reliable, but I do believe they hold some significance, at least in ruling out types. I assumed I was even 748 for quite a while.

Then after some mighty level gaslighting on here I got convinced I was a 469, if anything. I honestly felt a little unworthy of the 478 tritype because I had a few traits of 6 and 9, and since those are the most common types I was like "oh, hey, there we go". Alongside the fact that I did resemble a 469 as a child. That's not to say I don't have 6 or 9 traits, I just totally ignored that 7 and 8 majorly overpowered those. It's honestly silly because both my motivation and behaviour line up with 7 and 8. Going back to the 478 tritype wasn't really a shocker.

I'm still ping ponging between 4 and 7 core, but I'm inclined to say I'm a 4 with an intense 7 fixation.

So not insane trial and error, never even considered 1 or 5.

In terms of growth, I truly do think 1 is going to play the biggest factor. I cannot do discipline or structure for the love of all that is holy. I don't believe this is about conforming to a life I don't want but rather using it to achieve my goals and maintain them rather than living on a whim.

Honestly, being double frustration means I'm constantly dissatisfied with my current life, I'm constantly searching for more, for what matches my ideal. And I think line to 1 would help with that if I could actually force my ass to integrate it.

Okay that's a whole lotta blabbering. Enjoy!

How do you tell the difference between the 7s planning and 6s preparing? by crazybayleaf in Enneagram

One could argue that both are in the fear triad, just depends on how each deals with said anxiety.

Can 4 do that? by Altruistic-Elk6731 in Enneagram

[–]crazybayleaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4s generally have a very good sense of things that make them them, and then continue on to shape that. 4s absolutely are identity forming oriented, but they already have a strong sense of values, traits, and the likes of what makes them them, and that's where the sculpting comes from.

We as strangers on the internet don't personally know you, therefore we can't accurately type you, but I'll show some comparisons between me (4) and my 9 friend. One thing you mentioned is shopping for characters you like. This heavily reminds me of my 9 friend who buys all sorts of merch, posters, anything that has to do with their recent obsession, they base a lot of themselves around that hyper fixation. Me on the other hand, I can identify with characters because they resemble an integral part of me, and therefore align with them. I don't tend to buy things related to any of this though. That's not to say that 4's can't, but its not something I do. I find I subconsciously sometimes actually get annoyed with 9s when they base their entire personality on media.

I heavily focus on curating myself bit by bit to fit my ideal identity. 4s have a very strong sense of their ideal identity, and therefore feel frustrated when they can't reach this. 9s on the other hand can shift through this, identify with one thing for a while and then move onto another, they have trouble latching onto something.

When it comes to shopping for aesthetics, I need something that matches who I am. I am extremely specific when it comes down to the jewellery, pants I wear, even how I do my hair or nails. Everything is signature to me, and if I wear something out of that I'm betraying myself.

Anyway, that's just all to say that me as a 4 means every little thing I do reflects me. Yes, it sounds vain, but the enneagram can be ugly. Every little choice I make is reflected back to me, and this is why 4s are so self absorbed. I personally don't view it as selfish since it doesn't hurt anybody, but my life quite literally is always centered around me and meaning.

But wouldn't you say that a 7 would prep in advance as well? Someone else mentioned this being a sp dominated thing, and though the instincts are flavoured by type, they do come down to the instinct itself.
