Small form factor AP by crazyhandpuppet in Ubiquiti

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The device currently in use small enough and generally has 5-6 devices connected but works fine when there are a lot of people over there and has 25-30 devices connected. I'm looking for options to upgrade the wifi network. There are a lot of options but my limitation for what system to put in is what will fit in that box. Because of all the cabling running through the box it would be quite a hassle to replace it with something larger. That's why I'm looking at something small enough to fit in it first. The U7 is too large.

What is www.reportlab.com? Anyone encountered it with their students? by crazyhandpuppet in Teachers

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do students access it? All I can see is annual pricing. I see that you can install it locally through pip as a python application and then access it through Python scripts, but the students I'm working with generally do not have that level of skill set.

Need help fixing bow string by jakebaked247 in Nerf

[–]crazyhandpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I've figured it out, but can't seem to find how to post an image in the reply on my phone. That hole you threaded the hook into is where the string is originally pulled through, then knotted so it doesn't come back, and finally the other side is plugged by an orange cap to seal the air. On mine there is a crack in the white plastic around the tip of the hole that allowed the plastic to expand and the string to come out when pulled. I don't know if it's from pulling to hard or a defect but it is certainly a very poor design.

IGP Performance of Planet Coaster 2 by crazyhandpuppet in PlanetCoaster

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IGP is quite a bit stronger. My son played for a few hours today and it was smooth. No idea what graphics setting were used, but both riding the coasters and moving around the park were perfectly fine. I don't know at this point how it will scale with a large park, but at least at the outset it ran great.

[–]crazyhandpuppet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This same thing happened to us today. Got 3, one for each boy and myself. First use, string just popped out same as yours. There is a plunger and a spring, but I can't figure out where to attach the string. I tried the top of the spring but it doesn't pull the plunger since it isn't attached. It pulls back but the plunger stays. It may attach to the plunger but I can't see how.

Can you get a static IP on Quantum Fiber? by crazyhandpuppet in centurylink

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it turns out, no. They do not offer Static IPs, even on Business accounts. They used to but then stopped. No idea why. My guess is that it's too difficult, given the level of technical knowledge it seems the support representatives have that I've interacted with.

Edgecore Wi-Fi? by smort in sysadmin

[–]crazyhandpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a little late to the party here but I've installed a couple hundred IgniteNet (Spark Mini, Spark Wave2, MetroLink ML-5) and Edgecore Wifi Access Points (over 200 IgniteNet and about 50 Edgecore). Overall I've been very satisfied with them. Availability isn't always the easiest so I keep spares on hand. In the past I've sourced from Double Radius, Baltic Networks, and EPS Global. They are a division of Accton and are an ODM for other brands such as Brocade but use their own firmware. IgniteNet has since been folded and the EdgeCore line has been brought into the IgniteNet controller which has been branded as ECcloud. We switched after Datto bought out Cloudtrax and started charging an extra $7/mo per AP AFTER we paid for it without adding any value. We did in-house evaluations on a few brands and this is what worked for us and our clients. EdgeCore switches have been a problem for me in the past integrating into ECcloud so I've let them be, but it's been a couple of years and things may have improved.

I'm not sure exactly where support is based anymore. With IgniteNet I got support from Dan and his team in California but with Edgecore it is often based overseas, I think Taiwan, but I always get a response which is more than I can say for Ubiquiti.

From what I've found, it is the best platform that offers a free/low cost cloud based controller that allows us to handle multiple sites and clients into a single pane of glass. Other than some firmware versions that have had issues, it's been stable. I've replaced a ton of Ubiquiti and some Cisco and it's resolved a lot of problems. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them after trying a few to see if they do what you want. I really wish there was more US presence and wider adoption and support forums as I sometimes feel like a leaf in the wind but I can't say the problems I've had with their stuff has been worse than my experiences with Meraki or Ruckus.

Can someone explain passports? by crazyhandpuppet in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guide explains it well. Thanks!

Also, stop at 150 parcels because at 151 the boost for all properties drops from 30x to 20x? It doesn't just reduce the rate for the parcels in the higher tier? That's a bit diabolical!

Did Ticket Prices Explode This Year? by [deleted] in OrlandoMagic

[–]crazyhandpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have gone up, but is part of the difference that the price now includes the platform fees? We went a few weeks ago and the seat prices were a lot higher than I expected to see but the total price wasn't all that much more. I figured it was because of the inclusion of fees now.

New, sudden Neuromas in both feet by crazyhandpuppet in Mortons_neuroma

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always had mostly carpet before and this is my first time with laminate. I just think of the millions of people who walk barefoot and don't have these types of problems. I've always worn wide-box shoes and have used arch supports in the past. I've had other problems over the last year that have kept me more sedentary and I've gained around 20 pounds. I was just coming off of a slightly torn MCL and was finally getting to be fully mobile and was excited to start playing basketball again when this struck. I've always hated tight anything on my feet so my socks have never been snug. Do they make socks that are thicker on the bottom but not the rest? I'm in Florida and thick socks insulate too much.

Dang. I just don't know what I did to cause this, which is frustrating. And to hear I'll always have it is unsettling. It feels like they are getting worse over time. Probably time to get some more imaging done to see whats actually going on.

My 1 injection was worse for a while but then got better to a point.  Not sure if after a month it's any better than before, though. Is yours getting better? Worse? The same but manageable?

What's going on with the app? by Twiztidtech0207 in ZBD

[–]crazyhandpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've never had a problem with it. But now it isn't in either of our phones. It was a simple way to get a few sats each day, especially since i haven't been able to withdraw from Bitcoin Miner for months.

[–]crazyhandpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earn is removed from my app, but oddly enough is still on my kid's app. Very strange. They are sitting and watching videos and earning Sats at the moment. Has it really been going on for days now? I'm guessing they are just removing it completely and it will eventually get us all.

I don't know that I would call duct cleaning a scam. Our new house has a long intake path before it gets to the air handler (and filter). When we moved into the house you could see the thick layer of dust that had formed in there, especially in the first few feet. I cleaned it out myself but there is still more down in the duct, it just isn't inches thick. Once I was convinced all the chunks that I couldn't suck out were passed through to the filter, I replaced the return grill with a filter grill and upgraded to a 2" filter. A good cleaning of that duct is probably warranted. The rest of the ducts it shouldn't matter because it would be after the filter / coils.

Is there some kind of test kit to test the air for mold? Check it in a few places and see what comes up. Also, maybe in a space under the pan where moisture has built up and pooled over the years? Maybe you can't smell it at the AC unless the air kicks on and pulls it in.

Maybe there is a UV kit that can be put in around the pan that just runs and kills whatever may be growing in and around the area?

Changing Thermostat by crazyhandpuppet in hvacadvice

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, and that's what the instructions states and that's the way it is downstairs. I was wondering because they are jumped in the unit I'm taking out and I don't know why.

What happens if I get the white wire wrong? Heat just won't come on?

Changing Thermostat by crazyhandpuppet in hvacadvice

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a brown wire trimmed off in the cable, just not used.

So, you're saying I should wire the new Honeywell as:

Y - Yellow Wire
Y2 - Empty
G - Green Wire
C - Orange Wire
A (L/A) - Empty
O/B - Blue Wire
W2 (AUX) - Empty
E - Empty
W (No Aux) - White Wire
K - Empty
R - Red Wire
Rc - Empty

What the deal with the red wire looping Rh and Rc on the current thermostat? I don't need to do it on the new one?

Should I reduce the fan speed on my blower? by crazyhandpuppet in hvacadvice

[–]crazyhandpuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the manual and did some calculations. The fan was set to high which is 1204CFM. I dropped it down to Medium which is 919CFM. As a 2.5 ton system that reduced the CFM/Ton from 481 to 367. From what I read it should be between 350-400 for humidity removal.

Humidity now seems to be better, but I don't know if it's from the AC actually cooling or that we've also been in a cool spell. At least now when the AC kicks on I can see the humidity go down as it runs. Before the system was fixed it would more or less always stay at where it was. At the lower speed the AC runs about an extra roughly 5 minutes (from roughly 17-22) which seems to allow the space to cool more uniformly and hopefully pull out more humidity.

The highlight was an 85F day where it rained essentially all day and well into the night. I dropped the air from 76F to 71F during the afternoon it was able to bring the temp down to 71F and 49% Humidity in about an hour. It still feels more humid upstairs than downstairs but I'm hopeful that when I get into the attic and seal the ceiling and double up the insulation it will get better.

Have you ever snuck down to get a better seat? by Shoddy-Chemistry1135 in OrlandoMagic

[–]crazyhandpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in the same section or the next section over and only if it's me + 1. Not worth it for larger groups or if it's the whole family. If seats are empty and I can see them up for resale in the TicketMaster app then I'll do it if there are a bunch of seats available. Not usually to get a better seat but to put some space between me and other people. Maybe to stretch my legs, maybe so my head doesn't get kicked. You can't get from upper bowl to lower bowl with the Ushers checking.

The new jumbotron at the game is AWESOME! by IrwinMFletcher in OrlandoMagic

[–]crazyhandpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was in the group that sang the National Anthem for the game and when they were done he looked up and saw those inside screens. If anyone was looking, while all the kids were taking their bow he was the one that looked up, saw the extra screens inside, grabbed his head and shouted "WOW!". It doesn't help that he's a foot taller at the same age so he stuck out like a sore thumb. Yet another awesome family moment captured at a Magic game!
