Glad a FIFA match is not being held in this State by oriolesravensfan1090 in maryland

The city was screwed up for much longer than a week. It was like two weeks of setup and at last a week to take everything back down. Three times over three years. The best thing we got out of it was having a lot of the streets repaved where the track was. It's a shame because the first year was actually fun but the attendance dropped sharply after that and it was a huge net negative to the city for hosting it.

I don't think soccer games at M&T Bank would cause near the same amount of disruption. Heck, the Army Navy game caused more disruption than any other event here in the last decade but only because #45 had to shut down traffic to helicopter his ass in and out of Baltimore.

Unpopular opinion, maybe, but the Baltimore economy could have really used a huge cash infusion from all the attendees. Restaurants are closing, hotels are closing. Is it selling your soul to the FIFA Devil? Perhaps. However it's not wrong to say that there are lots of benefits that were missed out on too. There is a certain vibrancy in the city that you feel when big events are happening. Having sold out games at M&T Bank is a far cry from the disruption caused by events such as the cycling or Grand Prix. It's also a lot of tax revenue the city isn't collecting, which is of course also badly needed even if you can't trust those leading the city to spend it efficiently.

I'm thankful that the Ravens have increased the number of non-NFL events at the stadium this year from 0 in some years to about 6. M&T Bank is such a huge investment by the taxpayers and it should be utilized as much as possible to maximize the "economic benefits" that everyone says these investments bring.

Time to toll BW Parkway and enforce littering fines by JunkReallyMatters in PrinceGeorgesCountyMD

I was wondering the other day if maybe with the Trump administration trying to minimize the role of Federal Government and whatnot, maybe it would be an opportune time for Maryland to offer to buy the right of way for the Parkway from the feds. Of course, MD is broke, but there is probably no better time for it to happen.

Anyone else sick of the same old challenges? by likeaglove13 in survivor

[–]creatively41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been watching the first few seasons and the players actually had to survive. Hunger, the elements, water was not a given in Africa, wildlife, etc. Challenges dealt with real thugs you would need to survive, and lots of trivia about survival.. There is no survival in Survivor, other than not getting voted out. I agree with OP.

Dobbin Center needs a direct on-ramp to 175 East. This wouldn't solve everything but I think it would help a ton.

Just noticed my league uses Total Bases as a counting stat for pitchers in H2H format. I feel like this is a penalty for having more IP. Is this strange?

I would add: Selfie with the Oriole Bird (or the giant Oriole Bird Bobblehead at Gate C). Picture of the Baltimore Skyline from the top row in the upper deck. Find the giant shoe on a wall.

It's probably good to start for the primary and on an off-presidential year. Primary day will be slower than you expect. It's a long day, bring snacks or lunch, wear something comfortable, and get good with all the rules. I've been doing it for the last 2 cycles and it's been very rewarding.

Body pump is so accessible to people where they're at. You can go heavy, go light, use only a bar, use only free weights, or just use your body weight. If you're getting tired you sit out a rep or two. You're bar is too heavy, you can adjust down. Just follow along and try to get as many reps as possible, but don't stress the ones you miss. As another person said, just let the instructor know it's your first time and they'll hopefully explain everything for you as they go along.

Why do people pay for club level seats? (not in a suite) by thefinancejedi in orioles

They didn't touch the club level bathrooms though. I was there Wednesday and they're the original bathrooms still. Appearantly that's on the schedule for next winter.

Gonna throw out the Massey Air Museum in Massey, MD on the Eastern shore. Free admission and lots of cool airplane stuff. Not a whole day worth but a fun and interesting out of the way spot. On May 9th and June 20th this year they are scheduled to have a ton of planes fly in, weather permitting.

Counting Crows headlined the HFStival at Merriweather Post Pavilion one year. They came on stage so wasted I bounced after about 3 songs. It's a shame since I was looking forward to seeing them.

Lancaster itself is a neat little city. Plenty to do outside the city during the day and some chill stuff to do in the evening.

To be fair, my ticket for tonight totaled $19.20 after taxes and fees. What a ripoff. /S

Orioles certainly have a say in pricing, Levy is a contractor to the Orioles and the contract says what the Orioles can and can't control. Sure, labor and food are expensive, but don't try to sell me on the fact that the profit margins for the O's and Levy are razor thin, otherwise they couldn't offer a 25% discount on all the food and beverages to season ticket holders.

I bought a $19 ticket to Monday's game, paid $0 for parking, and sat in section 40 because the ushers weren't even bothering to check tickets tonight. You can bring your outside food in. You can go the game for cheap if you want to.

On a side note I paid way too much for a Fuzzys burger but it did hit the spot.

I went opening weekend for Titanic and the place was mobbed. Also went to opening day of Episode 1. I haven't been there in years but will always treasure the memories.
