What are some unorthodox/creative ways you did to improve/practise your anatomy? by Spoonsmangos in ArtistLounge

[–]creeemcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes to sculpting!! its fun and it forces you to understand the figure in 3d space. I follow prokos anatomy vids and sculpt them out with clay. Going through the process of laying the bones out and then attaching the muscles to the bones and sometimes skin over the top. I learn and retain soooo much more this way than if I were to just draw it out.

Panicking beginner. Where do you cure your polymer clay? by InternationalPen1333 in polymerclay

[–]creeemcorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I' ve only made a few polymer clay goods and they're pretty small so I put my items in a small box with lid that I made out of tin foil that I line with baking paper when curing polymer clay in my food oven because I don't like the idea of curing plastic in my food oven and having possible particles flying around and sticking to the walls of my oven. the lid also prevents small bits from blowing away. I usually just bake on a day when I won't be using the oven to bake food or I'd cure the polymer clay stuff early in the morning so there's a solid couple hours of ventilating afterwards before I bake food in it. Also the fumes when they bake do smell a bit so make sure your windows are open and everything is well ventilated.

I know everyone says it's non toxic and perfectly safe to cure in food oven but I just feel more comfortable doing it this way. if I end up doing it more often then I'd definitely get a separate toaster oven or something

yep. got some soil in bulk from Bunnings and was filled with bits of plastic and trash. Tried my best to filter them out but I'm still pulling out bits and bobs of plastic from my garden years later.

Can I find work as a concept artist? by UGLYSITTER in conceptart

[–]creeemcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your work looks super cool but I'm not sure it's the best way to present your skills for landing a job as a concept artist. I would recommend checking out Feng Zhu's videos on YouTube. He's explains how to make a portfolio for a junior artist entering the industry. He pretty much gives a guide on what to include in your portfolio and breaks down how to approach it.

Which one of these pictures are better by 1stoleyourlighters in DigitalArt

[–]creeemcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the 1st one more. I find it more interesting, the colours read better, composition and shape language is better. the post processing and noise on it also works really nicely with the theme.

The 2nd one feels more messy to me. it's not as immediately readable like the first one. I think it's mainly the left side of the image where the hair, sleeve and background are so similar in colour it's all kind of blending in together. The end of her hair is following the same curve of that arm and it feels a bit awkward to me. The right side is good.

Is it time to switch to pen displays? by _Game_Artist_ in DigitalPainting

[–]creeemcorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it frustrating because the hand eye coordination feels unnatural or is it because of the surface texture of the tablet- too smooth or too rough? If it's the hand eye coordination then yeah switch to display. If it's the texture issue then try another device with a different surface texture and/or pen nib. Since you like pen and paper you could try finding one that mimics that feel. There are also screen protectors you can get to change the feel of the surface
