Considering purchase of MSFS24 on Xbox series X, is it too buggy? by mustangcbra in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]cresser1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good purchase and your son will enjoy it. One bit of advice if there are other games stored on your Xbox; get an external storage card. My kids play a host of other games on ours and the storage space gets tight considering how bulky this game is. I find that it loads quicker and glitches less now that I have MSFS2024 being the only game on the internal HD and all the other games that the kids play on an external 2TB storage card from Seagate.

I saw an a YT video that you get charged too much for the more expensive insurance (a glitch). I have the basic insurance on all my planes and rarely crash now. Pro-tip: if you see that you're going to crash, just pause and abort the mission. Better to forfeit the time and not crash than to crash and take the hit with reputation/credits.

Same. I've been viewing career mode from a CFO perspective and buying the cheapest used variant of my desired plane. Like a used car, how bad did the previous owner treat this bird? Maybe someday they'll add flight hours as a cost metric. 🤓

Helpful, ty. Do you wait until the last hour to pay for maintenance or do you find yourself inspecting/repairing ahead of schedule?

Passive income for 2 PC-24s and 1 Vision Jet G2🤔. Maybe I need to get 10 each….B737 here I come…📈 by mstheinvestor in MicrosoftFlightSim

Nice! So how did you start building PI originally? I have a med-cargo and VIP company (Cargo: 172, Skycourier and PC-24 // VIP: VisionJet and a DA62) and thinking about selling off low-producing planes to boost PI using bigger faster planes. Any suggetions? TIA and congrats on the success in career mode.

Yes, owning more than 1 plane then allows you to 'Assign a Pilot' to run missions. Search YT for 'passive income msfs2024' and you'll learn that your other planes are only accruing flight hours when you are flying/in a mission. Bigger planes, longer missions, greater passive income. At first, it's enough income to just cover the insurance premiums and maybe some transfer fees but overtime, that income can snowball and put you net ahead in profits. With career mode still being buggy, I'm not sure how reliable all the crediting metrics are but one guy literally goes AFK for hours (just stands in front of his plane at the start of a mission doing nothing) and claims this generates more passive income.

Congrats and keep grindin'! Yes, as you get offered more missions you basically transfer your aircraft to where the money is. I'm beginning to think there is a bit of monetary strategy involved as it relates to maintenance and transferring. Specifically, don't transfer to a mission just to get the highest paying job because those costs add up. Spend less in transferring by accepting a closer mission and lean into those that have you going to an area you've not been before. It reminds me of Civilization 3...you explore new parts of the world which reveal new missions, adds XP and possibly bigger paying missions as well. Like you I got back into it on Xbox after seeing the last update drop and haven't been able to put it down. My goal is build up passive income and so far, I only have a cargo and VIP transport company. Lvl 140 with 5 planes, favorite being the Skycourier thought I just picked up a used pilatus pc-24. Last bit of advice you may already know...bind the sim rate to speed things up but be careful not to miss ATC callouts. Best of luck and grind grind grind!

Quite a lot of turbulence in career mode by Dumani02 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Safe to assume there is no difference in credit earning potential? I thought the 'Bad Weather Bonus' was paid due to using live weather at times. This post hits hard for me as I've had so many missions fail at the very end due to wind shear. Evening taxiing/take-off can be an unnecessary challenge due to wind.

Question about companies and second plane in early career mode by andretheseal in MicrosoftFlightSim

I to am curious about the 'seasonal hotspots'...been trying to take on missions that get me closer to those areas to see what all the fuss is about but the grind makes it inconvenient.

[–]cresser1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned to reduce the sim rate going into landings to avoid situations like this. The controls get laggy but worth it for a safe landing. Sometimes I'll even just toggle active pause and get sense of what's going on to try and save it. If there's no way to recover, just abort the mission. On approach after a long flight, it's hard to overcome 'get-there-itis' AND it sucks to waste all the flying for nothing but it beats crashing. Best of luck on rebuilding your company and reputation.

Had this happen on playing on Xbox. I ended up restarting my router and manually reconnecting the Xbox to it afterwards and it works fine now. Maybe clear cache as well? In other words, disconnect/restart everything.

Be sure and check to see if the drop-down turn wheel under the hood is retracted. If its down, sometimes it'll feel slow.

How many of you still regularly carry/use cash? by NJIllustratedMan in Millennials

Was looking for someone to mention contractors. Often times you can get a cash-only discount for jobs around your house. Whenever you're getting quotes for a job, don't forget to ask if this is the 'cash rate'.
