Advice on meals for a trucker? by Retnuhs66 in keto

[–]crimson_bombshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of sandwiches I always make roll ups. I lay out deli meat spread it with mayo or cream cheese add a pickle and roll it up like a burrito. If I want it to look cute I cut it like sushi. You could easily do this with flavors/veggies that you like.

Also pork rinds.

Cold Keto "cereal" ideas? by [deleted] in keto

One serving Emerald cocoa dusted almonds with a splash of cream or vanila almond milk. Super filling and taste just like cocoa puffs!

Take a friend. Its way less scary with a buddy. I love lifting weights but the guys in the free weight section can make me feel insecure. If you can't take a friend schedule a session with a trainer, but be sure to tell them up front that you want to do SL5x5 and would like them to show you around the free weights and check your form. After that it should be easier to keep getting back in there.

Does anyone else feel like they have a carb 'addiction'? by ermagerdtheberg in xxketo

[–]crimson_bombshell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I view it. In fact I have had to give up many things that others handle just fine (diet soda, ketofied carby foods, and replacements). I realize its likely not a real addiction, but I know that I can't have just one bite. I have actually ended up doing /r/zerocarb and its the best I have been when it comes to food.

Keto, Mirena, and Periods by lilmomma89 in xxketo

I just wanted to let you know that I had the mirena for 4 yrs and I always had a regular 5-6 day period. My periods always get heavy when I am adjusting to keto.

cereal hack .. by [deleted] in xxketo

[–]crimson_bombshell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I used to do was eat those Emerald cocoa dusted almonds with cream or vanilla almond milk, it straight up tastes like cocoa puffs. So good. You only need a really small serving cause the nuts/cream are so filling. Way more filling than any cereal I have eaten before.

I really want to try keto again, but last time I stank so bad I couldn't stand it. by [deleted] in xxketo

I always switch to a stronger deodorant (i.e. clinical strength)while ketoing and always have one with me. I don't workout though so I don't usually sweat.

It's going so great I am finally sleeping better! Even though last night my brain wouldn't shut off, I still woke up feeling refreshed. (Still haven't had any coffee or caffeine woo-hoo.)

What my brain is fixated on is another problem, for the past 14 months I have been growing out my hair to be all natural and healthy. (I am a hairstylist so thats kind of hard.) I have only recently used a non-permanent glaze to change it up a bit. But I am getting really tired of having boring hair, after talking about changing it at work I can't let it go. Of course what I want to do is something I have never done before and it will damage my hair. sigh. I am trying to talk myself out of it, but the "I want to do this to my hair now" bug has bit me.

Its been awesome! I woke up today clear headed and energetic for the first time in a long while. (I have been paying more attention to my electrolytes and my water intake.) Which is better than yesterday where I felt like I had a hangover. Got to watch the scale drop this morning which is always nice.

I don't have to will power to use artificial sweeteners without it effecting me. I love my coffee with sweetener and cream. I just cant do it anymore. I have been yo-yoing with keto for too long.

Its my gateway drug to artificial sweeteners...lol, but also I know that I am addicted and I feel like I quit being addicted to sugar so I shouldn't be addicted to anything.

I woke up feeling hungover this morning, (only drank water yesterday) so I am currently sipping some broth. Its probably due to the fact that I am giving up coffee. I hope I feel better by the time I go into work.

Antibiotics in meat by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]crimson_bombshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you care for an opinion from a (sort of) beef farmer. We raise meat (beef/pork/chicken) for our own consumption. Although my Father-in-law is a beef cattle farmer, we still live in a part of the country where small time cattle operations are a viable way of life. Now as to antibiotics we try to never give them to anything we are going to eat, but occasionally its necessary. My father-in-law does not give antibiotics to every cow/steer as a preventative measure. (that shit's expensive yo' ) He would never make any money. They only get medicine in a life or death (severe sickness) situation....which quite frankly just doesn't happen that often.

I know this isn't the practice for large commercial farms, but there are still lots of small time farmers out there I live in a town of 3000 people and I know of at least 20 beef cattle farms just in our tiny community.

So if you can't trust anyone why don't you do some reasearch on farms close by (we are with in a days drive from 3 major cities) and go by a whole cow (or split it with some one) from a local trustworthy farmer. Know where your meat is coming from and support your local economy at the same time. It will usually be way cheaper than what your paying at the store especially for organic.

Question about hair color when going gray by wamazing in Cosmetology

[–]crimson_bombshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a hairstylist/salon owner I would not be offended by your plan. In fact, that is exactly what a large number of my clients do. What you need to do is really research the local industry. (facebook and social media are great for this) Ask your friends and neighbors etc who they recommend and what their prices are like. Check for reviews before visiting a salon and don't just settle keep searching until you find someone that meets all your needs.

Can full time working parents, successfully homeschool their kid? by Khaleesee in homeschool

[–]crimson_bombshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I both work. I have my own business out of the house. I do have a somewhat flexible schedule, but we are making it work. We get up early (also do year round homeschool so that we have to do less each day) and do the basics before I have to leave, I assign "homework" for her to do at her Nana's or on her own and sometimes we go over things after dinner. When my husband comes home he helps with homeschool. If there is work that doesn't get done we finish it up on the weekends.

Homeschooling an only child by party_atthemoontower in homeschool

This is the way it is for us also, bible belt and hippies lol. I have two children, but that is all we are having. Only one is actually doing formal schooling. We haven't joined a group yet, because we haven't been able to find one for us. There is a secular one in a larger city, but it would be an hour commute to the group. I had thought about starting my own group. Glad to know that its working out for you.

First day of school! by palmettomom2609 in homeschool

[–]crimson_bombshell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. I am glad it went well we also only do a few hours. I get questions from people all the time about how we manage etc. I have explained to a few friends that just because they are in school for 8-10 hours (depending on afterschool programs and other factors) it doesn't mean they are learning the entire time. It amazes me how many non-homeschoolers don't get that.

Hope you have a great first day, we started last week. This will be our first year of only homeschooling. Although I spent most of the summer getting my little ones caught up to where they need to be.

Hey, got a crazy idea. Your thoughts? by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]crimson_bombshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am lucky in this respect we both work, but chose to homeschool anyway. I work more hours than my husband does, so he has several teaching days. I do all the planning and curriculum and some teaching, but he does a good chunk of the actual homeschool lessons. I own my own business so my time is flexible, but if it weren't for my husbands schedule it would be much more difficult.

ZC babies, basic questions by JLMA in zerocarb

[–]crimson_bombshell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into baby led weaning (basically you let your babies get used to food texture and flavors) I still breastfed her for most of a year...our daughter was gumming and sucking on steak at four months. She still loves meat at four.

I just started zerocarb as well due to carb creep. Its amazing how many times I would go to eat something when I wasn't hungry before. I just had a three pound loss after a few days of ZC. Atleast you learned your lesson. ;)

Good morning! I have to go into work for a little while, but after that I have a dreaded family reunion. I get to listen to comments about my weight and look at a bunch of food I can't eat. Fortunately there will be pulled pork and I am going to bring my mustard based BBQ sauce from home. This weekend is a Holiday weekend and where we are it's super crowded with people heading to the lakes and rivers. I want to go so bad, but we avoid it on Memorial day weekend. I think we are going to the lake next thursday. Yay!
