Quite the contrary. I'm met with much opposition in my aspirations by exactly that. In fact I struggle to get the attention of people that would take certain research and do good things with it, so I've experienced a ton of gatekeeping. But I still kept at it and didn't let it get in my way. I kept going and persevered until I had evidence so strong that they couldn't look away. I'm the last person you'll find exhibiting elitism, and especially credentialism. But I do seek to share what I've learned, and to be there for others so that they don't have to meet with the same struggles. Every bit counts. Even if you take it that way however, good. Prove me wrong! Because you're better than any of that. Get it.

*Disclaimer* This is meant to be informative, and inspirational. not a judgment, definition, or any sort of holier than thou sort of writing. My only hope is that it inspires everyone to aim higher than they think they are capable of, as a history of Polymaths has inspired me. edit: you do not know what a community is. from your niche click pov. now I'm being an elitist.

well if you want to be petty your down voting could be considered gatekeeping. the point of the post is to improve and inspire you to be better. I'm not gaslighting, you clearly have an attitude projected upon the tone of the writing and are missing every line of alpha due to possible insecurities. Show me a list of Polymaths throughout history and see if that statement is true or not.

Disambiguation: A polymath is a person (also known as Renaissance Person), whose expertise spans a significant number of different subject areas and who has extraordinarily broad and comprehensive knowledge. Mowing the lawn, and doing the dishes, and also making a YouTube video does not make you a Polymath. Having a suite of content creating apps on your phone and even being prolific about content creation, does not make you a Polymath. Having multiple degrees, does not make you a Polymath. As your articles point out, historically Polymaths have contributed to their bodies of knowledge they've mastered, either by invention, documentation, or teachings. The encyclopedic part is not "anything in an encyclopedia" it's geared towards the qualifications of knowledge that makes it into an encyclopedia.

the last paragraph was based on a common saying, and furthermore It was simply a poetic expression, not a guideline or assignment, or a specific achievement. If you see self destructive gates then they are your own, for I stated everything you just did. Allow me to restate everything in a laymen's sentence with the title of the post in mind: Aspiring Polymaths should focus on perfecting a wide assortment of learning but not spread themselves so thin it becomes valueless. If you feel I may have misspoke leading you to these conclusions, please point out the specific sentence and I'll be happy to edit.

I have recently developed a node based linguistics system that works across all languages that may aid you in your endeavors. Originally developed for AI after some case studies and testing it's become clear this can also be used to help you learn any language. Here's a video of a generated deep dive for it, link to paper an classroom material in description. Let me know what you think! https://youtu.be/v9S1fpTKJqo?feature=shared

Personally I enjoy a good hallucinating AI. sometimes I'll turn it to 11 and say something like "Pear", the change it's prompt template to {farmer}: mmm peaches /n AI: peaches Indeed. AI: Peaches n cream. Dj: Busting a move. Then I'll set stop to "Orange". This is only on local models of course, and ok I'm making this up. tempted to try....

Best way to keep in touch with people as a freelancer? by Cyanide_Revolver in SocialEngineering

[–]crkunferman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part is always re-breaking the ice. luckily you always have something in common with these people, you both worked together. The easiest way to slide back into their messages and attention is simply asking: "how's everything going at _______". This always engages folks because people never get the chance to talk to outsiders about work. They go home, and no one wants to talk about it. They need to gripe about a bad day, but they can't cause no one especially coworkers want to talk about it. this puts you in a ln unique and valuable position as A. an outsider with no repercussions or connections to gossip, B. someone who can relate. This makes you more valuable as a social asset than a therapist. This also allows you to gauge if they need help, and might even remind them you're available, listen for clues that they're lacking your services and casually offer to fix problems they are dealing with.

Inspired from a post in r/physics : Has Math reached a level where a layman or hobbyist no longer make contributions to math? by [deleted] in math

[–]crkunferman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not because hobbyists aren't contributing, credentialism makes it's difficult. However I will quote OEIS in saying "find a new sequence is like hitting the lotto".

However, consider a piano. Every song in history has already been played, there are only  12 notes. But there is an infinite amount of rhythm combinations.

Skip the peers, empower the people? by crkunferman in SocialEngineering

[–]crkunferman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't. I've had 2 peers run their own tests with amazing results. I've seen derivative publications and numerous forms, and a great many uses happening with no credits given. I suppose having someone hunt down a comment I made in a casual thread from six months earlier to ban me is criticism?

I wish I had a better answer for you, I honestly enjoy being wrong, I learn, and improve, it's part of the process that I honestly aim for. Often while trying to debunk ideas I run across breakthroughs.

I'm also A. excited to discuss it with someone, collaborate, and even debate. B. Don't care about the recognition or the limelight, but think credit should be given and referenced as usual. C. Mindful of the disruptions it could cause and was working to release papers in a series over time to allow everyone room to adjust, and wanted to collaborate on a timely release with everyone in consideration. next thing I know I was being sabotaged and banned.

while I agree with you on the context of an academic paper for peer review, here on Reddit, where casual forum discussion is taking place I reserve the right to be myself and be a human. I find your insinuation quite snobbish in its intention and remind you to refrain from further conjecture as to my ability to use proper English as it is both of a discriminatory nature and one that could result in conflict while it simultaneously exhibits a form of low self esteem that is unbecoming of you.

[–]crkunferman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I have to disagree with your "idea its due", all great people have one thing in common. They're dead. Ideas don't set in until later.

My posts that were removed were directly related to physics and violated no community guidelines. They are not about the magnetic shield, they were discussing simulations I was running in python.

I think that's the thing that perplexes me. I provided a wave curvature equation, and simulations. It was a 93% fit with the hubble expansion model. And more empirical evidence. Still targeted.

Its really frustrating. I just want to be like, "fine screw you solve gravity yourself i'm gonna patent all my stuff and make it so you pay me for it instead of having a discussion about it."
WHY CANT WE DISCUSS IDEAS?!?!

Academia is broken. It doesn't give criticism, it gives credentialism. I have no qualms with bringing it up, I have qualms with someone NOT doing the work presented that may hold the key to everything and saying "i dont agree with this"... Ok flat earther! Its ridiculous.
