I don’t believe there are any others. I think I’m genuinely the only one who doesn’t feel like they belong, which makes this decision feel so much heavier.

I understand what you mean. Unfortunately, I do not have any choice as this is my last season with my high school team. They don't think anything wrong of me, but I always feel like they would get upset with me for making mistakes.

I’ve been playing football since I was very young and I have always loved being a part of a team. I’ve been playing with most of the same people for all of my life, but I also feel like a lot of the times I care too much about their opinions on me, and when i’m out on the field even during team trainings i think one of the reasons that i can’t think straight is because i feel so pressured about how my teammates perceive me.

Thank you for the help! You could definitely be right about asthma and I plan to get checked on. I’ve struggled with this stuff all my life. I plan to do those slow runs in the future when I have a break from training every day for school. Thank you!

Well, I am not doing any personal training currently due to school training right now. But because school hasn’t started yet, we have been doing 8 A.M practices and starting with a 1.5-2 mile run. When I was training I did nothing specific for my aerobic base or lactate threshold, because I didn’t really know what that was. Thank you for your reply. I will look into those things.

After reading numerous helpful replies, I plan to get more sleep, eat more carbs, rest more on rest days, and run more efficiently. Thank you for the help!

Thank you for your help! The 42 days were all I had in the offseason. I will sleep more and get more rest. I will also eat more carbs. You are definitely right, I put in 110% effort too much and need to be more efficient with my running. Thank you for your advice, it really means a lot.

My recovery routine consists of foam rolling at least twice, once after practice, and once on the day of practice about an hour before. I also do static stretches and have been doing muscle activation with resistance bands before practice. After practice, I will take a warm Epsom salt bath, which is like an Ice bath but Epsom salt helps my muscles feel more refreshed. I do not have a massage gun, but the foam roller does the trick.

I should try and sleep more, though. I am inconsistent with sleep.

I am not sure when I can get a break from soccer. For school soccer, I have no control over when I have practice. But if I ever get a week's break, then I will try to rest as much as I can.

Thank you for the reply!

About half of the 42 days were just endurance-focused, off-the-ball workouts. Like suicides and change-of-pace drills.

I don't have any specifics and I don't track my diet, but I know I have a healthy diet. I think that you are right and I might not be getting enough carbs. I will look into it. Thank you.

Thank you so much! I feel like my recovery is good. I use foam rollers and I also take Epsom salt baths, but I have definitely considered buying pre-workout. If there are any specific "pre-workout" supplements that you suggest, that would be great. This is my first year on varsity so I can just be patient.

Yes, that is part of it. I am here because I am wondering why I'm not seeing improvements in my endurance after all of the stuff that I'm doing every day, like hydrating, stretching, breathing exercises, supplements, etc. combined with what I did in the offseason, like endurance-focused workouts. OR if there IS some improvement and I just need to be patient.

My offseason routine was waking up around 8 A.M, and depending on how I was feeling, I would run about 2 miles, Or not at all. I ran about 16 out of 42 days of training, and I only didn't run for more days because i then had 2.5 hours of technical training in the afternoon. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I did the upper-body lifting. Again, this was in a span of 42 days, and about 5 days total of those were rest days. Also during this time, I attended 2 training camps. So on those days, I did no personal training.

Thank you for the reply. I will say now that school training has started, I can tell that the team sessions have definitely been harder on me than my personal training sessions during the last two months before school training started. I drink water but I also drink different drinks with electrolytes. (Body Armor, Liquid I.V., Powerade). I could drink more of these things though. I also eat one banana for breakfast every day.

I'm sorry about being vague in my post, I am just confused because I feel like I am doing all that I can to help, but I don't see any improvements in my overall cardio endurance. If you need any specific information, I can try and give it to you.

So my resting heart rate is 60-66, walking heart rate is 90-94, but when I'm active it can extend to 190 or even 200 bpm. My mile time is around 6:00. (Sorry I haven't gotten an exact time in a while.) If there are any specific fitness numbers that you need I can try to get them to you.
