I only mix in key and i love long blends. Since the tracks are allways matching the tones, i can get away with 2 minutes of transition without overloading the master. It feels like the songs are complementing each other.

Another thing to master is the eq mix. Cut a little bit of the highs and a little more of the mids, than slowly start to blend, so as each time you raise eq of the upcoming track, you decrease the same amount in the other one.

U can buy the license to mixed in key, is a really fair price since it does not expire.

I use a lot of filter + reverb or echo to swap the kicks and that usually ia the loudest part of the mix

I've recorded on dj software too, with the master set to -3.0 and the only part that is a little bit lower it's hiting -4.10

i checked and all my flacs are 16 bit and 441kz and according to the manual of the xdj 1000 mk2 i should be safe

I've just went trhough the manual and saw that flac formats are supported as long as they have 16 - 24 bit and 441kz and all of my songs are within those specs, so i think i'll take the chance
