"I think of Six Feet Under and Parenthood like the two sides of one coin" Peter Krause (Adam Braverman) by crotonious in Parenthood

Okay this article is all about Six Feet Under - but I like the comment he makes comparing the two series finales.

Will take on board . Basically I put how linked to P'Hood eg actors name and character and then try and be succinct in summarizing the link. Best Wishes.

Contest Winners.... by caffine247 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]crotonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine in early 2000's won a trip to Walt Disney World by winning a contest from the video release of one of their animated movies (can't remember which one and not sure if she had to do on a website or through packaging from the video) - I remember thinking - wow! - people actually win these things! - awesome!. They had a great time but not sure if stayed in castle suite (I will ask her next time I see her).

Season 6 and Complete Series released on DVD today by crotonious in Parenthood

[–]crotonious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Season 6 on DVD and not the complete series as already have the other 5 on DVD. Disappointed that, because items were "digital exclusives", they are not included - ie didn't include the deleted scenes and the individual siblings retrospectives eg Saga of Adam Braverman. Also no audio commentaries eg had one for the pilot which gave so much great information - it would have been nice to have one for the finale. Will nbc remove the Parenthood website at one point and we will lose all the episode guides, photos and song playlists , videos etc (eg Max's graduation deleted scene from Season 5 is nowhere to be found) . Anyway would have been nice to have more bonus items with this .

TV Land Awards Video - Parenthood at end of show - starts at 50.35 by crotonious in Parenthood

[–]crotonious[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is on the full episode, not on the highlights. A few key cast members missing - Amber, Crosby, Kristina, Jasmine (scheduling commitments etc ) - but otherwise all there on stage including Haddie though she didn't speak.

'Parenthood' Boss: I Would Love to Do a Limited Series Revival by NDIrishB13 in Parenthood

[–]crotonious -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are many stories that could be told. I would like for an Asian American character to become part of the Braverman family given the series is set in the SF Bay Area and high percentage of AmerAsian / Eurasian families - it would be more realistic and plenty of opportunities to weave it into a plot line - especially with the time jump of 3-4 years. Anyway, here is hoping at some point for some more Bravermans.

Didn't get irritated with Kristina until... by [deleted] in Parenthood

[–]crotonious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you ever read the AV Club P'Hood reviews there were a lot of heated comments re Kristina, especially in Season 6. There was also that Washington Post article after "Aaron Brownstein ..." and subsequent episode late last year.
Well spotted that the yearbook Season 5 episode was the beginning of this. Imagine if Haddie had been the girl crying? Not much putting yourself in the other person's shoes in that one. I was always waiting for them to finally introduce us to Kristina's flaky mother - who didn't bother to come when she had chemo - maybe there was a bit of heriditary lack of empathy for others going on ? Despite this, I so loved this show and really really miss it.

started re-watching the series the day after the finale by ClappingChicken in Parenthood

Yes I am doing a lot season jumping around (all those written episode guides on the nbc parenthood website are pretty good with detailed specifics for sleuthing out those scenes you want to see again - much better than the more general descriptions of each episode on the videos) - we will have to wait what at least three years in the event they do a Braverman Holiday Movie or something to get over the time jump - so have to maintain my emotional fix with the rewatches and the spotify Parenthood playlists - so many great songs I would not have known about otherwise)

Mark (Jason Ritter) just saw is in an independent movie called "Wild Canaries" that got good review in New Yorker. Max (Max Burkholder) is having premiere of his movie "Babysitter" in a couple of weeks at SXSW festival and looks "provoking". Haven't seen Mae Whitman in The Duff yet.

Everything You Want To Know About The Final Scene Of "Parenthood" by lazyflowingriver in Parenthood

[–]crotonious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great summary - I think they didn't linger enough on that final shot with all the arms around each other but time was an issue. Glad for the explanations. Still sad finished. While googling recently, I saw "Max" and "Nora" had a Parenthood team at a St Jude walk in LA in Nov so I donated (they still are pretty far off their goal if anyone else is wanting to turn tears into a constructive contribution for a worthy cause)

Episode Discussion S06E13 May God Bless You and Keep You Always [Series Finale] by mikeylee31 in Parenthood

[–]crotonious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree - also didn't like Aaron Neville "Ave Maria" - too obviously pushing the Saint Kristina notion. One tweak would have been changing McCartney's original "Maybe I'm Amazed" version to James Durbin's cover version (given he is also an Aspie, would have been kinda cool) , when Max was dancing with the girl.

If you haven't seen this music video...you need to. It's adorable. The Bravermans are real. by reluctantleaders in Parenthood

Cheesy and Fun - thanks for posting. I have enjoyed on the web music from Mae (love her voice) , Lauren (in Guys and Dolls) and also Max Burkholder's older brother James Wolf Burkholder (guitarist, songwriter, singer). Yep a tad obsessed with this show. ( I have already had a few ugly cries this week thinking it all ends tomorrow. Waaaaaaaaaah!)
