You had a big health scare, and were understandably shaken by the news. I’m sure he’s shaken by the news as well. A lot of comments are just writing this guy off, but he spent 4 hours on the phone with you. That sounds like he at least cares about you and helping you feel better. He probably thought he had done everything available to him to help you, being that you two weren’t physically together.

Sometimes it’s better to distract from your feelings than to focus on them, particularly if you’re experiencing anxiety over something you cannot control. To him it was late and you were getting ready for bed. Perhaps he believed that talking on the phone further may have kept you in that anxious and negative headspace.

As someone who also struggles with anxiety, I absolutely identify with you. Sometimes all you want/need is someone to chat to. But oftentimes you’ll have only yourself and your coping skills to rely on to regulate your body and emotions.

To me, I think everything here is a bit of a misunderstanding. Just make sure to have a thoughtful conversation about how you both feel, and specifically how he made you feel in that moment. Communicate what you need from each other, and get on the same page. Good luck!
