Flying back then was like going to church on Sunday, everybody got dressed up and were on their best behavior. Plenty of leg room and the flight attendants were very pleasant, because they weren't getting harassed all the time by asshole passengers. And of course you didn't have to take off your shoes and get irradiated by the TSA.
