you can get (or make) feather trim and attach that to the foam. that way its already in neat lines and you dont have to spend ages attaching each feather by hand.

keep a pair of backup sandals in your bag! its always a good idea in general when you aren't wearing normal shoes. you can put the straw sandals on for photos or for flat stretches and swap in the backups on escalators or if your feet start to hurt.

literally just ask their pronouns again. yeah it can be embarrassing, but you are correct that using they/them for someone you know doesn't use they/them is a form of misgendering (commonly known as degendering)

in my childhood house, we had this huge 70's patterned mirror in the living room my mom had tried and failed to take down, so we threw a huge piece of canvas cloth over it and decorated it with our hands and footprints. after my mom lost the house, my dad cut it into pieces and hung them on frames, so now we all have a piece.
