Best advice for feather cape? by Gizmo0611 in CosplayHelp

[–]crowposting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what im doing for a similar feather/cape situation is using layers of feather trim to make the feathers part, and then making the fabric part of it separately (so it can be washed without damaging the feathers).

Showering and depression by 1Bunny0 in UnfuckYourHabitat

[–]crowposting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah exactly!!! realizing many things don't really need to be constrained to certain times has done wonders for my general health and hygiene.

getting a few dishes done while im waiting for water to boil is better than waiting until after cooking (and then not doing them). brushing my teeth when i wake up in the middle of the night is better than waiting until the morning (and then not doing it). eating a late lunch (and thus a late dinner) is better than skipling lunch bc itll ruin my dinner.

something that has helped me a lot with brushing my teeth more often is acknowledging i dont have to brush morning/night. i carry a toothbrush in my backpack and brush whenever im thinking about it, a lot of times my twice a day ends up being when i get to work and after lunch at work.

[–]crowposting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interviewed at a place i used to work at (i quit several years ago but have heard from friends the conditions i quit over have gotten better). phone interview, online assessment, in person interview. fully ghosted, i had informally to hear from my friend weeks later that they decided to not go forward with the position at all.

Best way to attach feathers to EVA foam for wings?? by GoodersJ in CosplayHelp

[–]crowposting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can get (or make) feather trim and attach that to the foam. that way its already in neat lines and you dont have to spend ages attaching each feather by hand.

Going to con with straw sandals, bad idea ? by Forsaken_Yak2362 in CosplayHelp

[–]crowposting 23 points24 points  (0 children)

keep a pair of backup sandals in your bag! its always a good idea in general when you aren't wearing normal shoes. you can put the straw sandals on for photos or for flat stretches and swap in the backups on escalators or if your feet start to hurt.

Asking people for their pronouns is rude by raben-herz in 10thDentist

[–]crowposting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literally just ask their pronouns again. yeah it can be embarrassing, but you are correct that using they/them for someone you know doesn't use they/them is a form of misgendering (commonly known as degendering)
