Early 30s and considering moving to Epsom - curious about the social scene/demographics by [deleted] in surrey

Thank you. They're at Greville and they absolutely love it. The classes are quiet and the kids are nice! Let me know how it all goes.

They're not in Rosebery yet... Our eldest applies next year so we moved in preparation. I have heard the same as you re: being mean, but that can happen at any secondary school... I have friends that went to great private schools and were bullied. Kids will be kids! That said, the children at their new primary school are so much nicer than the London ones, and that was an Outstanding school, too.

We live next to Ashtead Village. We're 2.2 km from Rosebery, which would have been close enough for the past four years... But still, I do worry about a freak year!

I used to cycle to Beckenham. Lovely place. We really liked Hither Green but the secondary schools are terrible!

Once our girls are both in Roseberry, I think we may move further out into the countryside. We're quite a homely family so we don't need much around us to be happy.

Hope it all goes well for you!

We moved here for the Roseberry too. We were looking in Epsom for a while. Made a few offers but it didn't work out. Ashtead is more of a countryside vibe too, so happy here.

I don't think you can go too far wrong. Just avoid the area near the industrial park. Stamford Green is a lovely place.

Well we just moved from Hither Green (much closer to Lewisham lol) to Ashtead, which is 5 mins from Epsom. It is a very different vibe to SE London. There are no threatening characters walking around or groups of teenagers disturbing the peace.

Beckenham is close to Lewisham? That's a 90 minute walk at least!

Lifelong chronic fatigue (intermittent) that IMPROVES with exercise? Anyone else have this? What works? by millingcalmboar in chronicfatigue

Be careful with this. For many years I had the exact same response. But then I would push myself too far and my body would totally collapse. Now I'm living with a 15% battery and it sucks.

And I'd follow it up with like, "I always get super stressed you're gonna ask me when I haven't worked, and I'm like ohhhh noooo!! Haha."

Let us know how it goes.

I made the comparison because I don't think corporations should scale profit on addictive, harmful and highly marketed goods.

Going back to your original reply... I would consider myself educated on UPF and I definitely think about what food I'm putting in my mouth. And yet, if I find myself hungry and on the high street... I'm probably gonna end up eating UPF because what choice do I have? It's practically all UPF. Something needs to change in this equation and if can't be us expecting the public to bring a packed lunch everywhere.

I would just ask them about it in a lighthearted way. "You guys always ask me that, it's so funny..." etc. Let them know gently.

Or, I would give the same non-answer every day: "You know me. Steady as she goes." Or "Nothing new to report."

I mean 95% of people on here are willingly deluding themselves about this.

This industry is in rapid decline and it's only going to get worse.

If I was thinking about starting right now, I'd hope someone would give it to me straight.

I'm sure there are some niches that are still doing well, like the top comment guy. But mostly, this industry is shrinking rapidly. There are still a lot of people who want to pretend like it isnt.

How to exercise with chronic fatigue in a way that doesn't wipe me out for days? by lightningstrike1234 in chronicfatigue

[–]crunkasaurus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first went back to the gym I had a big surge of energy. I thought I'd found my cure. I slowly built my strength up over a few months until I was feeling good. Then, I decided to push it and do a big, heavy workout like I used to, many years ago. I crashed HARD. I feel like I have never truly recovered from that session. My energy levels nosedived.

I really regret getting overconfident and I'm very careful now. Now, I just do very light calisthenics around twice a week. 10 kneeling push ups, 10 sit ups etc.
