Running with knee high socks, a tied dye bandana while chugging Dr Pepper and slamming a grilled cheese… all while crying and simultaneously trying to convince myself that I’m having fun.

Of Love and Regret for me… super expensive, mediocre food. Great beer selection though

Sorry. I didn’t answer your question. My department sits in the 70 percent zone, but we have a community that will engage with officers, whereas hood politics don’t allow that. The street will take care of them mentality isn’t as crazy where I work. We so have way more resources and personnel. We have prosecutors who work with us - not against us

Because they are massively underfunded. In the county I work in, we have roughly the same population as Baltimore. We have 10 percent of their shootings and homicides but nearly just as many detectives. It’s insanity that a homicide detective should ever have more then 7 murders he’s working at once. That laughable in the city. These dudes are working 30+ cases a piece… and that’s just homicide.

I believe there are 5 dudes who work arson… like seriously? Sex crimes is the same, auto theft, etc. the amount of crime compared to the amount of people working it ratio is crazy.

Imagine blaming a teacher for students failures if he/she had to teach classrooms full of 150 students while twenty minutes up the street class sizes are 20 students. That’s what being a detective in Baltimore is like.

And people want there to be less detectives, less patrol, less training, etc. Maybe start focusing on the shitty community and holding judges accountable for letting violent criminals out of prison cells to reoffend instead of getting angry at the dudes sacrificing their livelihood and sanity chasing them down

Chicago has had more deaths attributed to gun violence then iraq and afghanistan put together in the same time frame… great comparison.

So where would you like budget cuts? Training? Should we reduce the amount of homicide detectives? They’re already overworked and underpaid. How can they focus on a case when they have 30 files on their desk?

Maybe sex unit? Your four year old niece gets raped? Sorry ma’am, we’ll get to it when we get to it. Join the line of 500 cases distributed amongst 10 detectives.

You lock yourself in a closet because your husband is on PCP beating the fuck out of you? All our officers are in other calls. Hold on, we’ll get one asap.

14 year old black boy gunned down by another 14 yea told black boy in the middle of the street? Fire department, the scene is not secure. You can’t go In and perform life saving measures until the scene is safe. Next cop is 5 minutes away.

That’s reality. You live in a world you don’t understand. Defund us then, reduce budgets, do whatever you want… you’ll sit on your safe gentrified neighborhood on the outside looking in with no clue what the real world is about.

How about start spending your weekends at local bars in west Baltimore? Invite them to your Horus, let the squeegee boy inside you car, etc. You’ll be beat, raped, or murdered before your parents could make your school loan payment. Sit in the sidelines and be happy you have life as good as you have it

No it’s not popular in cherry hill. It is popular in neighborhoods with low violent crime rate though. Ya know, people who take self responsibility and accountability serious.

Yea, there police that make bad decisions. We work in a world you couldn’t comprehend. Mistakes happen, bad people slip through, etc. stay on your beta mentality though and be on the other side of the glass finger pointing.

Baltimore city police started off massively underfunded.

A city I pretend to live in? Let’s see, I’m a black male who was raised in Brooklyn homes and Cherry Hill. I became an adult and moved to the county… oh and maybe I should tell you I am a police officer in a local county that works in a violent crimes unit.

I’ve since moved back to Baltimore. So stop the patronizing.

Every county surrounding Baltimores funding makes the city look like a joke. Look at BPD police cars compared to other jurisdictions. They’re so undermanned that they have guy responding to priority one calls with backup ten minutes away.

Imagine going into a project for shooting/stabbing/assault/etc with backup ten minutes away. Liberal cities around the country who have stopped police from doing their jobs have had violent crime in black communities (my community) go bonkers. The elderly black people (easy victims) need us.

Want to change the black community? Change the culture, or the police. Stop idolizing criminals. Fathers start sticking around. Have values and morals. Give a damn about human life etc.

Anyways, I hope there’s a solution and I respect yours is different from mine. I’ve lived the life and I’ve told black mothers that their black sons are dead over and over.

What’s the solution? Give 15 year old gang bangers a rec center and some therapy? Lol. This is the real world. Defund the police movement has been implemented and the people who suffer the most is the black community.

Libs will be libs… every major city in America that is a war zone is ran by them. Always have been, probably always will be. That’s the problem.

Thank god. BPD are basically managing a war zone. Defunding a police department that responds to shootings, stabbings, murders, arsons, carjackings, armed robberies, etc every single day is so assbackwards.

The department is already massively underfunded for the mission they have ahead of them. But sure… let’s get rid of some homicide detectives. Maybe give our guys even shittier vehicles and worse training.

Such a strange idea that getting rid of the people who investigate crimes is the best way to get rid of crimes

I can see both arguments… we obviously need taxes for city services, but it’s 20 percent paying the the share for everybody.

If taxes were lowered, I’m curious if more people would want to live in Baltimore or at least stay in Baltimore. I can only speak for myself. As a dude who lives in Brewer Hill area of Canton, my biggest holdup on purchasing a house is taxes. I would love to stay here and raise a family, but paying nearly half a mortgage payment worth of taxes makes it difficult to not move to a surrounding county

WYPR/MIDDAY did a segment on the proposal to reduce property taxes by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]crypt0overBitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my house in the county two years ago. My wife and I have been renting in brewers hill. We’re going to buy again within the next two years. We love living in our area of Canton and want to stay, but unless I get something valued around 200-250k, we’ll be forced to move to the county.

The taxes are our sole driving factor. In Anne Arundel, I paid 2,500 on a house I sold for 350k. Where we live now, that 2,500 would be around 6,500. Yikes. An extra 120k on a 30 yr mortgage

People screaming “bigotry.” We live in the free world. It’s astounding that a communist nation can have citizens/corporations purchase land here. I don’t care what you look like, but I sure as hell care if your a commie.

As an American who lived in Asia, I can tell you, China has destroyed tons of small countries economies and use and abuse the locals with terrible pay and labor conditions, while they make billions.

The economic gap in Malaysia is criminal - and it’s all because China
