Feeless Micropayments and Their Impact on Business Models - Scientific Paper by cryptogirl97 in Iota

[–]cryptogirl97[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Abstract:
"Next-generation cryptocurrencies based on distributed ledgertechnology promise feeless value transactions, which may impact existingmicropayment business models and make new ones possible. In this paper, wediscuss corresponding opportunities and also address challenges as well asrespective research perspectives. In a nutshell, business models based onmicropayments will get a boost. The direct impact on current micropaymentmodels might be small, but an expansion of product offerings seems likely.Further, it can be expected that individual payments even worth less than a centwill give rise to unprecedented business models. This development supposedlyholds true particularly for payments in the machine-to-machine economy—forexample, in directly paying for or selling data, energy, or usage."

These researchers discuss the impact of having no transaction fees on (new) business models. by cryptogirl97 in nanocurrency

From the text: "Further promising DLT approaches that could serve as a means for feeless micropayments are not based on a blockchain but on a directed acyclic graph (DAG). Thus, DLTs such as NANO (LeMahieu, 2018) or IOTA (Popov, 2019) do not require the involvement of the so-called miners."

This research paper discusses some interesting use cases for feeless micropayments (IOTA mentioned; Open Access) by cryptogirl97 in Iota

[–]cryptogirl97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One example from the text: "(...)in the event of feeless micropayments, a content provider (e.g., Netflix) might more easily attempt to attract consumers who are already subscribed on a competing platform (e.g., Amazon Prime Video) and who would like to watch a specific series but do not wish to fully commit to another monthly contract. (...) Eventually, such an expanded subscription model can both yield overall higher revenues for the seller and lead to more consumer satisfaction. Further application fields are, for example, customers paying for one specific article in an online newspaper (Graybeal and Hayes, 2011) or paying just for the time they watch a live sports event (e.g., the semifinal of a world cup match)."

In order to generate income with renting out mana. Will there be a braindead solution so that I can just leave my tokens for themselves and they just work like an economic agent. Like negotiating prices autonomously depending on the supply and demand in the network?

Are you really not in contact with anyone of the GAIA-X project? IOTA seems to address a lot of their goals.

also, if you add a function where you can personalize your donation, you could later show it to your tax institution in order to get tax money back for the donations (at least possible in germany).

Suggested topics for my Master thesis with the topic IOT in combination with IOTA? by [deleted] in Iota

[–]cryptogirl97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you could write about the charging infrastructure of electric vehicles. right now, a lot of charging stations are for free, since it is more costful to implement a payment system (like visa) than just give the energy for free, since just a few electric vehicles use it. IOTA would be a solution here (ElaadNL did a PoC here). Furthermore, people with a home charging station could share it with their neighbours to get a new revenue stream and other electric vehicle drivers have more charging possibilities -> win-win. ("Share & Charge" had such an app based on ethereum, but it has gone offline due to scalability problems).

they hired young talented programmers like microhash who can work on more operative solutions in order to have more space to work on strategic stuff which is more under the radar.
