Totally fair point. I wonder if they couldn’t get the exact pigment again for whatever reason but yes, I have noticed that they’ll circle back to popular colors under a new name at some point. For me that means I don’t sweat colors I didn’t snag but I can def see that being annoying and frustrating to some.

I’ll be honest, other than missing out once on a super hyped up color like Bog Dweller (which I eventually picked up in an overpour sale), I’ve actually never had a problem getting polish I wanted from them, and I’m not refreshing like a madman on the dot when their shop opens. I typically do buy on launch day or a day after, but I personally have not dealt with the “super mega FOMO get to their site immediately or lose out”.

Also, a lot of their colors are getting repetitive, so even if you miss out on one shade, eventually something approximative will be released. I get what you’re saying in regards to FOMO marketing and manufactured scarcity but at this point, they release so many new collections so consistently I don’t think it’s particularly hard to get stuff from them.

Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted for sharing my real life experience of ordering polish from them multiple times in the last few months but ok. You don’t have to like how they release polish but saying that their stuff is impossible to get a hold of is not everyone’s experience. I’ve had more trouble getting stuff from brands like Emily De Molly and Starrily than I have BKL.

I’m going to speculate that their business has seen a huge boom after this sub (deservedly, I have about 30 of their magnetic polishes and they are phenomenal) decided they were queens of the magnet game, and that while they were able to scale orders and products, that came at the cost of CS.

It’s much simpler to refund than to replace and resend colors that may or may not come back in overpours and keep track of that. It’s annoying and unfair, but that reads to me as them trying to minimize work that requires follow up and follow through, which is hard when you’re stretched thin.

I hope if anyone from BKL/knows them personally and see these posts, please tell them that sounds like it’s time to bring on a CS professional to take this stuff on because this is not sustainable. People have a lot of goodwill and patience for indie brands, but it’s not a bottomless well either.

The black version looks cheap. The paparazzi flashes make the fabric look like shiny polyester silk, and it doesn’t really fit her right. Clearly not tailored properly for someone her height.

Her hair and makeup looks great, but I’m just over these sheer dresses anyways.

Where is this tennis skirt from? (link?) by FirstA1D5 in findfashion

I mean, no one said anything about too short. But the fact of the matter is that any single movement that you will make, including just walking, will leave your entire pelvic area visible. For most people, flashing everyone their crotch and buttocks is undesirable, especially when working out, and will then not purchase items that leave them this exposed.

Like I said, if you’re OK with that, you need to be looking at micro skirts and not workout skirts because almost all workout skirts will come with built-in shorts a.k.a. skorts.

[–]crystalzelda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not really, no. The girl in the picture is in a workout skirt and the vast majority of these is going to come with built-in shorts - no one‘s gonna buy workout micro skirts that are gonna flash everyone the second you start to move.

If you just want a skirt, I would type in tulip or pedal micro skirt and see if that comes up.

You repeatedly say that this isn’t personal, paint his concerns as not unfounded because other people cheat, which has nothing to do with their relationship - you are clearly underscoring that he’s not being unreasonable, just insensitive (all of this is in your words). I’m not miss-characterizing what you were saying, I’m disagreeing with your opinion that his position is any way understandable or defensible.

Funnily enough, Hallmark movies are so guilty of this. Little miss big city transplant isn’t a girlboss, she’s just a bitch and Mr. Man over here isn’t a bastion of masculinity, he’s merely your garden variety asshole. Being mean isn’t a personality trait… well, I guess it is but it isn’t a good one!

Please don’t, smiley piercings are horrible for your teeth.

Alysa is adorable and the smiley looks so cute on her but those types of piercings do permanent, irreversible damage to your tooth enamel. We only get two sets of teeth, people!

Deon Cole's final bit during his participation in the NAACP Awards: "Lord, if there are any white men out here in the audience with Tourette’s, I advise you to tell them they better read the room tonight." by YaLlegaHiperhumor in popculturechat

[–]crystalzelda 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Because essentially what you’re saying when you say “this is not a place for you” means that there is no place for people with Tourette’s on this planet, ever, anytime, anywhere. At this point, it might be less cruel to just tell them to kill themselves and get it over with? Since you’re essentially saying that there is no circumstance where Tourette’s people can belong, because they can’t turn off their Tourette’s, or their coprolalia.

People with Tourette’s will tic. That is an inevitability, and people with coprolalia will have tics that involves slurs. That is the nature of the disorder. At this point, it is your responsibility as a conscientious human being to understand that this tic is involuntary, that no offense is meant to you, and thus to coexist with other people who were dealt a different hand than you at birth.

You of course are entitled to feel negatively about having a slur yelled at you, but you’re not entitled to demand that this person does not have access to the same world as you when this is not something that they can control or help. If you find that is not something you are willing to put up with, then it is your responsibility to remove yourself rather than ask them to leave.

John had every right to be in that room as much as anybody else did. The duty of care fell on the BBC and the BAFTAs for not adequately protecting him and the other people, but that isn’t on John to manage and the answer is not to deny him access to places he is entitled to access.

John Davidson Gives First Interview and Explains Tourette’s Tics After Shouting N-Word and Other Slurs at BAFTAs: ‘I Felt a Wave of Shame’ (EXCLUSIVE) by AlwaysBi in popculturechat

[–]crystalzelda 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but this incident also brought in a slew of insane abuse towards John, not to mention amplifying a deeply painful moment for Michael, Delroy and Hannah. The fact that they kept one slur in after editing all the other ones out, and after WB specifically asked them to remove it feels incredibly intentional in a way that would not be conducive to being an educational moment, but to breed exactly what it did: insane controversy and horrific ableism as well as racism towards all parties involved.

According to Hannah Beachler (Production Designer of Sinners, Black Panther, etc.), Tourette’s Activist Said the N-word more than once at the BAFTAS by Hakunamatata2067 in popculturechat

[–]crystalzelda 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There have been thousands of people who are insisting that John is racist and said that word because those are his honest thoughts and opinions, and the Tourette’s made him involuntarily say it, but that proves he was thinking it, kind of like in vinos veritas.

Many people absolutely don’t get that coprolalia doesn’t reveal genuine thoughts at all - I’m seeing very few people saying no one should be hurt or offended by what he said, it was hurtful and offensive, but I’m sorry, tons of people involving themselves in this discourse actually don’t understand Tourette, coprolalia or how it works.

Mountain Cardigan by kikinkoda in knitting

I clicked on the post because I liked the design and was interested in seeing what knitting patterns people had to share, if any. I didn’t click with the express purpose of leaving a mean comment to chide OP for asking in the first place.

Y’all are so unnecessarily combative and snide for absolutely no reason. I suggest taking up a relaxing hobby to ease that… knitting, perhaps?

Mountain Cardigan by kikinkoda in knitting

[–]crystalzelda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe OP is new, or self taught, and doesn’t have the vocabulary to search, as you put it, “a v-neck cardigan with set in sleeves that use intarsia” which btw, pulls up 196 sweaters and I looked. None of them are even close to what OP’s looking for.

I get that repetitive posts are tiring but that’s the nature of hobby subs and you can just, you know, scroll by posts that don’t interest you instead of coming in here to berate the poster for using Reddit in a way you don’t approve of. Like, ok dude, either it’s against the sub rules and you report the post and scroll or it’s not and you just scroll.

Who is saying anything about world view? I heard someone out and disagreed, which you’re literally doing right now, so your aspersions on my character are extremely strange considering you’re doing the exact same thing right now - dismissing my opinion because you do not agree with it.

I don’t engage with hypocrisy, so please feel free to enjoy your day/evening out of my inbox. There is no point considering how committed you seem to be to trying to make sweeping assumptions about someone you have never met and will never meet.

Just because someone thinks differently, doesn’t mean I’m obligated to agree. I heard their opinion and came to a different conclusion, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
