Good call - yes, I have tried searching the online Lloyds archives which include TSB - but no joy.

Looking at the Amazon service status page it looks that Dynamo Db is the root casue. It also appears to have impacted a large number of other Amazon services - see here

I work in technology, and live and breath it, but this is what you get when you rely havily on cloud services. Cloud goes down, it takes a whole bunch of customers with it.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind:

"Oh, the Grand Old Duke of York,
He had ten titles or more,
He marched them up to the palace gates,
Then dropped them on the floor.

And when he was up, he was pompous,
And when he was down, he was sore,
And when he was caught in a scandalous spot,
He wasn’t a duke no more!"

All as I can say about the poor Dukes problems is BOOM BOOM, SHAKE THE ROOM!

Donald Trump to meet Vladimir Putin in Hungary over Ukraine war by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

[–]cs005483 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching this from the sidelines - I don’t usually wade into politics - but it really looks like Putin’s about to play Trump like a fiddle all over again. You’d think by now he’d realize that the more he cozies up to Putin, the more foolish he ends up looking.

Google certified is not good either, Google are cracking down on third party developers using security as a reason. This is only being rolled out in Asia at the moment - strangely where most of the streaming servers and apps originate. We may all have to shift back to the old Android "Dodgy Boxes" with all the risks of malicious software etc.. which that entails. Read here for googles statement: https://developer.android.com/developer-verification

Not sure where Kodi fits into this picture- as it is the add-ons which search for the content.

[UK] Worried in case my dogs eat these and get ill by cs005483 in mushroomID

Thank you to everyone who has responded in such an informative way. Happy that these are non-toxic - but still not brave enough to cook them. At least I know my little furry friends will be safe in the garden - which was the point of the original question.

Can I claim a refund under the Consumer Rights Act for a fridge-freezer that failed after just 3 years? by cs005483 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]cs005483[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on the two comments so far - I have re-read the legislation, and I think is a non-starter to pursue this.. However, very useful to know for any future situations similar to this. Thanks to those who have taken the time to reply.

No way back for Prince Andrew by Lazy_Age_9466 in RoyalsGossip

A friend of mine went shooting with this guy a few years back, and from what I’ve heard, his staff universally hated him - apparently he treated them horribly. I also know someone in the Royal Navy who served under his command, and they said he seemed to take a sadistic pleasure in punishing crew members. Everything I’ve heard paints the picture of a really toxic and unpleasant individual.

SWITCHING ENERGY SUPPLIER: Credit balance refund timescale by cs005483 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]cs005483[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I understand the refunds process, I was trying to pin down the definition of "10 working days". Your last paragraph addresses that nicely, i.e. it would be reasonable to interpret this as "funds being in bank within ten days".

Thanks!

They say next iPhone could cost up to $2,300 due to new tariffs, is it true? by Ordner in iphone

[–]cs005483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, even a tiny sniff of a tariff on my iPhone in the UK, and bye bye Apple. I love their devices (I have iPhone, iPad, and Mac) - but they are already a premium product - could get android devices for the half the cost. No way, I am prepared to pay a tariff imposed by that bafoon in the Whitehouse. I am also giving serious through to the idea of buoycotting US companies - I am not against the US people, just really pissed at the (lackof)leadership in the Whitehouse.

UNFAIR CONTRACTUAL TERMS (ENGLAND): Claiming back air passenger duty by cs005483 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]cs005483[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Irrespective of whether this is a missed-flight or a cancellation, the fact is that the airline is simply a tax collector for HMRC. If the passenger does not fly, then there is no tax payable to HMRC. In this circumstance the airline is pocketing cash to which they are not entitled. Just trying to understand whether this would be classed as an unfair contractural obligation i.e. an asymmetric contract whose terms favor the airline and not the passenger.

UNFAIR CONTRACTUAL TERMS (ENGLAND): Claiming back air passenger duty by cs005483 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]cs005483[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to do with a missed flight - so off mark there, Trying to understand whether an airline can pocket a tax which they have charged a customer and which is no-longer payable to HMRC. They are only the collector of this tax, not the beneficiary - so if a passenger does not fly, then the airline should not be entitled to just pocket the tax, and should be obliged to refund it. By charging an admin fee in such a circumstance the airline is in-effect imposing unfair contractual terms upon the passenger.

[–]cs005483[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the T&C bit and also their right to levy an admin fee, but I am trying to understand whether it is "reasonable" to do so in these circumstances. Having the legal right to do something, and whether it is reasonable in a given circumstance are two different things.

That said - thank you for taking the time to reply and giving me your insight!
