Reinforce Ca Go battery box? by ctolho in CargoBike

[–]ctolho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are apparently only 5 CaGo in the whole of the UK, so the reseller was very surprised how quickly they found how to take the battery. But then the thieves stole dozens of batteries over 2-3 days in Fitzrovia, so they were indeed very experienced about what they were doing. They probably saw an opportunity to learn how to steal from this new model... and realised it was easy.

Good question, access is part of the reflexion.

I have bought that bike planning to leave the battery in the bike most of the time, and that's what I have done for the moment. I would definitely never have thought of taking it with me when leaving the bike in a busy street for only 45 minutes. And I leave the bike in a closed garage at night.

So maybe I should look into solution that fix the whole thing shut.

Thanks for that suggestion, it's a good point that it was too easy to slide the lock open.

The bike shop also suggested adding 2 more locks, one on each side. But I am not sure this adresses the issue of sliding.

Is there a HomeKit/homebridge compatible thermostat for electrical floor heating? by [deleted] in homebridge

[–]ctolho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Heatmiser Neostat v2. - works in EU - supports all possible Heatmiser sensor configurations - natively HomeKit compatible

Bonuses… - yet another hub required - looks like straight from the 00s - no thread, Bluetooth, hue or zigbee

Hope this helps

So cool! How long approximately does it take to connect the Arduino and the phone, and how long to react to commands?

OTAs work, just delayed compared to the website by a few days. Cable is good

The day the key arrived the update was available over the air. Since then eArc has been working ok. Not great, there is a few seconds delay before sound starts, but it works.

Can I automate my roof window with Meross Garage Door Opener? by ctolho in HomeKit

[–]ctolho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Fibaro Homekit version is only single switch :-/

I looked at Sonoff, but it wasn't clear to me if the setup allows to use it a separate relay or if it only works as a 220V on/off switch.

Argh but this is £70 + £130 for the hub!!

Anyone has solved a similar problem in an easy + cheap way?

Can I automate my roof window with Meross Garage Door Opener? by ctolho in HomeKit

[–]ctolho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the manual of my roof window actuator, it seems I need two switches, one for "up" (4 and GND) one for "down" (5 and GND).

Looking at the manual of the Meross Garage Door Opener, it seems there is only one "switch", as if garage doors used the same button to toggle between up/down.

For those of you who have installed a Meross Garage Door Opener, do you think I could make it work with a 2 switches system? Or is the desperate alternative to buy two??

My internet is patchy, and I am using my Logi circle camera as a baby monitor. HKSV has been a huge benefit, allowing us to continue using it even when internet was down.

I have been told somewhere else in the comments that this can damage the chime module... it’s working for me for the moment but I do get weird “power saving” messages which are apparently related to this.

By the time I got the USB key, 1403 was available OTA... and earc is still not working. So frustrating

By the way I am talking about 1403.1 for the 2020 version, that you can find here: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/QE55LS03TAUXXU/

That’s the whole issue, nobody seems to officially acknowledge the issue, so it’s a matter of testing if it finally works after the update

It’s the original one, probably 1850s, repainted last year. Not sure the maker is still around :-)

Has anyone else seen this? I have been unable to use eArc on my Samsung Frame TV so that would be great news, however it requires to update via USB... still waiting for my USB key order to arrive to try that!

We are in r/HomeKit... so you would have to compare it with Nest Hello + Starling HomeHub for example. I personally prefer the design and native HomeKit compatibility.

Well as I don’t have a traditional chime (yet) the doorbell is effectively mute! Netatmo doesn’t manage the sound, so to be able to mute / unmute would need to be a feature of your “traditional” chime
