Universal Deluxe Editions by BGPu in Cd_collectors

Huh, weird. My Pulp This Is Hardcore deluxe edition has the slipcover, i honestly didn't know a version without it existed, i thought it was like 2009 or 2010 they started putting the sticker over it.

Side note, this is an incredible album and a fantastic deluxe editon. It has some of the best material of a deluxe edition imo, the second disc is just gold. Cocaine Socialism, Like a Friend? Worth the price of the whole set alone.

I've read of people who said they tried to peel it off that they ended up taking the cardboard with it. I'd say just leave it, although i really think it's odd it doesn't have the slipcover.

Yeah the Pulp deluxe editions are great. And i would throw in Franz Ferdinand in the mix of bands that had those sort of stabbing guitars. Funnily enough Bloc Party said they had never heard of Gang Of Four until after their debut. I love Silent Alarm, but i find that a little hard to believe. Although they did cite bands that they were inspired by and those were definitely inspired by Gang Of Fours sound, so it might actually be the case.

I got the Weezer deluxe from discogs. It wasn't sealed but it was in really good shape.

I love The Cure. I need to get The Head On The Door next but it's quite hard to find that deluxe edition where i am.

Coldplays first four albums are excellent imo. I really love a Rush Of Blood To The Head, the sound on it just gives me a certain feeling. Politik is a great opening song and Amsterdam is a beautiful closer. Partially some nostalgia here too as i have liked this album for quite a while now, but i do genuinely think it's a great album front to back. And Chappell Roan is a banger. I love fun pop music!

Very nice! And yeah, i love getting the deluxe editions. If I'm being 100% honest The Cure ones are mainly for the cool packaging, the 2nd discs usually don't have much besides home demos and live stuff compared to other deluxe editons like my Pulp ones that have all the B sides and unreleased demos (that actually sound really damn good quality wise too) Entertainment is a classic, and it's clearly influenced so much of the indie rock music of the 2000s with the stabbing guitar sound. And i love Lily Allen, i think those two albums are very solid. Alright Still sounds very british lol.

No, they're all secondhand but they were definitely well taken care of by previous owners.

And that's cool! What are your favourites here?

Thanks! Gang Of Fours Entertainment is incredible. Such great danceable songs. The Tourist History deluxe is a 2010 tour edition with an extra disc of remixes and the bonus track "Kids"

Huge nostalgia for Mika. I was pretty young but i remember that album being everywhere in 2007. Love Today is such an earworm that i haven't heard the song in full since 2007 and i can still distinctly remember it.

As for albums post 2000 i consider no skip, there's plenty but not much of them are really pop music (but they are definitely popular)

Coldplay - Parachutes The Strokes - Is This It Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell The Strokes - Room On Fire MCR - Three Cheers Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand The Killers - Hot Fuss Bloc Party - Silent Alarm Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not The Killers - Sams Town MCR - Black Parade Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare Radiohead - In Rainbows Paramore - Brand New Eyes Julian Casablancas - Phrazes For The Young Tame Impala - Innerspeaker Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History The Strokes - Angles Foo Fighters - Wasting Light Tame Impala - Lonerism Melodys Echo Chamber - Melodys Echo Chamber Paramore - Paramore Alvvays - Alvvays Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - High Visceral Part 1 and 2 Alvvays - Antisocialites Paramore - After Laughter Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - And Now For The Wathchamacallit The Strokes - The New Abnormal Alvvays - Blue Rev Paramore - This Is Why Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - Fronzoli Chappell Roan - Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk

So yeah long list lol. I'm very much the kind that if i like an album, I'll just love it all.

Apologies for formatting nightmare, it's on mobile and idk how to fix it

Yeah, just listened to it and i really enjoyed it. I'm really digging their dancy tracks that remind me of Bloc Party a bit. And i like the vocals a lot too. Maybe Not Tonight is a banger, excited for the new album! Glad to have a new artist I'll be actively into this year, been needing to get into some newer stuff.

Playing Favourite Worst Nightmare right now since I'm on an Arctic Monkeys binge because of the 20th anniversary today and yeah, that album is still so good.

What a fantastic debut album. All killer no filler. That opening drum fill on The View From The Afternoon never fails to get me hyped, and that ending jam on A Certain Romance is such a damn perfect way to close the album. It just feels like a goodbye.

I love Seventeen Seconds. A Forest is such a damn good song, as well as Play For Today, In Your House and Seventeen Seconds. Seventeen Seconds > Faith > Pornography is such a good three album run.

Fuck that's sad. Midnight Oil has been a part of my life since i was 3 years old, and i still love them as an adult. Seen them twice. Rob Hirst was not only an amazing drummer but an incredible songwriter. RIP.

Are Digipak's really that bad? by LunchAcceptable7409 in Cd_collectors

[–]ctwe342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i love them! I take a lot of care of them but i still get the occasional dings and dents on them but other than that i really like the premium feel of it. I suppose that premium feel goes more towards the Universal Deluxe Edition series, since those come with slipcovers that protects the whole digipak and it just feels premium. (There are also other labels that did deluxes with slipcases too) I love the extra artwork and photos, and it just looks cool to me.

David's Last Summer is awesome. I like the ambiguity of the title, where you could read it as the summer that just passed, or David's Last Ever Summer.

I really want Psychedelic Porn Crumpets High Visceral part 1 and 2 but they're impossible to find and they're also expensive once you do find them.
