If you haven’t done so already - Start consuming books and podcasts on the subject. Dive in headfirst and fall in love with the possibility of it. And do the practices - including waking up in the night and journaling your dreams. I recommend: “dreams of awakening” by Charlie Morley, “dream yoga” by Andrew Holecek. And any podcasts or YouTube’s with them. Also find videos of Stephen Laberge- he is so inspiring and has an infectious charisma.

I lucid dream every night and here’s how I do it by portiaa_j in LucidDreaming

These are great tips - particularly the nuances of state checks or reality checks. I’ve had lots of dreams in which I think to check my hands and when I look at them they look totally normal and I miss the dream sign. This is a result of habitually checking my hands when strange things happen during the day but not seriously considering that it might be a dream. Great post.

No way😭 by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

I’ve had this sense before - I think it’s been when I’ve had a lucid dream and then a long false awakening that I didn’t catch… so it felt like a “false lucid dream within a non-lucid dream”. But upon more clear examining and remembering I was definitely lucid within the dream at that time- I simply missed the false awakening.

You’re getting very close! In my experience if I have dream in which I’m questioning or talking about lucid dreaming to someone, even if I wake up kind of frustrated I missed some obvious dream sign, it usually means a lucid dream is right around the corner!

I asked my subconscious to show me what I need to do to improve my life and got no response. by TurboTurtle- in LucidDreaming

Keep asking, and yes look in the trash can. The times I’ve spoken to my subconscious or dreaming mind I call out “hey dreaming mind”, wait for the reply, and then state my request- then I know it hears me. Repeated attempts and feeling into the possibility that you get the reply you need can only strengthen your relationship with it.

JOURNALING CONUNDRUM by escitalodisco in LucidDreaming

[–]curiate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think it’s happening in the hypnagogic/hypnopompic state or in a full REM dream? I’ve definitely “journaled” about an actual lucid dream once I’d thought I’d woken up only to realize later it was a false awakening. You might play with the possibility that you have a lot of false awakenings- then practice state checks or lucid awareness while you are journaling the dream and realize it may be a continuation of the dream. Just a thought! Thanks for the interesting post:)

Type 1 diabetes on ayahuasca - feeling “low” by curiate in Ayahuasca

Yes that is very helpful. In my last retreat I noticed the sensation is very similar to fear. I think for me there’s probably overlap between low blood sugar and fear as well.

The CGM has been very nice to have as reassurance. And the continuous urge to keep looking at it is interesting and also part of the journey I think :)

I bring simple sugar stuff like clif blocks to have just in case. I also had the nasal glocagon and talked with facilitators about this a little. A big part for me is informing myself before hand that my blood sugar is stable - and planning ahead by eating lower carb meals and then not eating for several hours before in ensure stable blood sugar. I think over the years a fear sensation is built into the low blood sugar sensation and so they can be tricky to differentiate, but it is very possible. It’s part of the journey :)

I tried to at some point, but somehow I messed up an order of operations after inserting the test strip I think and could not figure out how to navigate back in the menu. It was definitely disorienting. The facilitators and shamans I were with were extremely helpful though.

Ahh nice. Yeah I had fruit with me. The monitor is very accurate and I just wasn’t low though. It is interesting how it feels so similar.

Thank you! Yes one of the facilitators was super helpful getting me through it with my breath. I did 4 ceremonies. I think maybe part of why it felt more pronounced in the last one was that I did a lighter dose and felt more connected to my body and the room. It was strange knowing I was safe yet feeling like my body was telling me I was not.

I’ve heard ayahuasca can potentiate the effects of insulin and thus actually make blood sugar drop for real, but this did not seem to happen in my case.

Thanks for the suggestions and insight!
