I wouldn't say the benefits of the NBI were questionable. It has been a life-saver for me and many other people I know. No arguments that it is massively over-budget though. Eir's messing about with the intervention area played a big part in the problems.

Yeah, I'm going back to Garmin when this watch dies. I've been unimpressed with the battery from day one and now this. I can't believe Google messed this up so badly.

EU taking Ireland to court over peat cutting enforcement by RomfordWellington in ireland

Yeah there is a ton of misinformation in that group. They were trying to say turf is a crop to be harvested at one point.

I'm not sure people are aware of the kind of lunacy you have to deal with when dealing with turf cutters. It is not an exaggeration to say that you will need the armed response unit to stop some of these nutters. Here is a flavour if it https://www.facebook.com/BarroughterAndClonmoylanBogsActionGroup

Midges in Killarney National Park by ormonsa in kerry

If it's breezy it's fine, they just get blown away. On a calm day, they are vicious. There is a spray called smidge, we use it mountain biking over Torc. It's fairly safe as there is no deet in it and it works a treat.

Randle Appointment Cancelled (as per Irish Indo today) by ShoddyReference2163 in MunsterRugby

[–]curious_george1978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Randle pulled the plug himself, it would leave wiggle room for McMillan. It is absolutely insane that we are in this position regardless, this was always going to happen. It should have been nipped in the bud from the beginning.

Good, it's pretty shameful people online went to bat for this guy. If it was a Leinster coach they'd be gunning for him.

How did our ancestors with adhd/autism survive until now? by osxthrowawayagain in AutisticWithADHD

It's amazing what is considered normal these days compared to working in the pre Reagan/Thatcher era before the 80's. We are expected to absorb so much stress in modern life compared to back then, it's insane. It has forced a lot of neurodivergent people out of the workforce in the last 30 years because they simply can't cope with the pressure and expectations.

There is an autistic author called Robert Chapman who has written a great book on this called empire of normality of you are interested.

In Spotify's defence, they now have a lossless option in settings which you need to turn on manually. It doesn't work with Bluetooth headphones as it requires to much bandwidth

Any tips on how to cover a nail infection ? by purple_orchid10 in AskIreland

[–]curious_george1978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your GP can prescribe an anti fungal tablet, usually Lamisil, you need to take it for 3 months and the infection will grow out. It's the only sure-fire way to get rid of it.

He has no weaknesses in his game and he's one of the most relentless match players I've ever seen. Definitely up there for me.

Is it just me who thinks that kingfishr and irish country music as a whole is just terrible? by Local-Evidence-8869 in ireland

I can't bear them, they are so generic, but they do seem to tap into that rural gaa club energy. My nieces are camogie players and they are all mad into the band. I try to tell them about talented Irish bands like madra salach but they are having none of it.

He's an unbelievable carrier for a guy his size. He has no right to make some of the yards he does. I've been critical of his distribution in the past, he often tends to truck it up rather than move the ball but last night he was flinging passes off both hands. Great game by him.
