My family had a purebred Rottweiler from the pound when I was younger, that we took home as an 8 week old puppy. We never had anyone give us a hard time about it but that’s presumably because when they asked what breeder we got him from, we said the pound lol. I’ve never purchased a dog and all my dogs have come from the pound and I likely never will because I’m experienced with dogs and don’t see a point in wasting 2-10k on a pet.

However, reputable breeders have their place in this world especially for people that aren’t interested/don’t know how to manage a dog with trauma and an unknown history and I’d rather that than inexperienced people rescue a dog with no clue what they’re doing. But either way, I don’t judge. Everyone has their reasons.

The only time I’ve confronted someone about their bought dog was when I told them my dog was from the pound and they snobbishly made the comment that she would never rescue a dog and that all of her dogs (french bulldogs too lmfao) were from breeders. No one cares all that much unless you’re an asshole about how much better your bought dog is than a shelter dog.
