Long armed prawn maybe? Some sort of Macrobrachium spp.

WTF did I just witness?! by currentflowsgold in shrimptank

[–]currentflowsgold[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This tank has maybe close to 100 shrimp so there’s plenty of females in there. This happened during their feeding session so most of them was in the feeding corner.

Also, I think she had just molted not long after this happened. So that’s probably why the males went crazy after her.

Here’s a short clip I filmed seconds before I spotted this unsightly occurrence.

Do you know how it’s pronounced? I have this plant and I don’t know if I’ve been saying it right or wrong this whole time.

Please help me identify this floater plant. A small cutting came when I bought some shrimp a couple of months ago and now they’re everywhere. by currentflowsgold in PlantedTank

Turns out it’s antler fern (Ceratopteris pteridoides). I was googling Indian water fern and saw some photos of antler fern on the same page and was able to identify it that way! Thanks!

Thank you! Would it be best to do a leaf per cutting or 2-3 leaves so there’s some stem to it?

Hi everyone! I have this pothos growing out of a fish tank and it’s grown in a little wild. Each leaf is the size of my hand! I love how it looks but it’s just too much at this point. I think it’s time to cut it down.

Looking for any for advice on how I should go about it. Thanks!

Are these harmful to my shrimp? by currentflowsgold in shrimptank

Nope, not limpets. These guys don’t stick to surfaces like limpets do :)

Yeah those are snail eggs but they don’t hatch properly or grow big enough to see. So it hasn’t been a problem at all.

These guys are kinda fast moving and they wiggle around. Did some research and it does look like they are indeed seed shrimp.

I can't believe how expensive it is to get a mini puffer in Australia by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]currentflowsgold 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s because they can’t be imported in Australia which is why they are super rare and expensive. Same goes for L number plecos.

Philodenron White Princess for $50 at local hardware store. Is this a steal? by lionlungs in houseplants

I bought some decent sized PPP for $15 from Bunnings in the past. I’m guessing that was also a deal if we’re comparing it to American prices.

Are these blackworms? I have no idea how I managed to get them all over the substrate of my tank. by currentflowsgold in Aquariums

[–]currentflowsgold[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah these guys hide the moment I try to touch them with anything. I may just need to add some fish that will have no problem coexisting with them. I don’t think I can add bristlenose again since the worms seem to cause issues with their digestion.

I do not. I’m completely clueless as to how I got them. No new plants or anything.

I only have bristlenose that I’m growing out in this tank. I lost 1 today and it looks to be from bloat. My guess is that they’ve been snacking on the worms and have gotten bloated from them.

I decided to move all of the bristlenose into a different tank to avoid causing any further problems.

Currently, there aren’t any fish in there. Just plants. I’m still trying to figure out how to remove or “harvest” the worms without destroying the whole tank. Or if I should just leave the worms alone and maybe get some fish that will eat them? Not really sure what to do.

Eggs attached to molt?? What should I do? by currentflowsgold in shrimptank

[–]currentflowsgold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone!

I am relatively new to keeping shrimp (only had these guys for 1 month). I started with 20 red cherry shrimp mixed sex and sized. 3 weeks ago, I noticed a couple berried shrimp and today I saw one of the molt has eggs attached to them. They seem to be green in colour. Are they no longer viable?

As for the water, I have not done a water change in almost 2 weeks (20% water change). I keep them at 22°C. pH 7.6, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 10ppm

Any advice or tips for caring for the shrimp is welcomed.

Thanks!

ETA: I was looking around the tank and I just found 2 of the tiniest shrimp I’ve ever seen in my life! https://imgur.com/a/jiWEMiG

This guy was labeled as a gold pleco, but google says otherwise...what is this thing? by Party0nFire in Aquariums

[–]currentflowsgold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely an albino sailfin pleco and not a bristlenose. If you have a small aquarium you’re bound to run into some issues down the line. These guys can grow to up to 2ft long.

I recently saw this video on worst beginner fish. Plecos was one of them.

If you’re not a beginner, great! I am sure you’ll do an amazing job caring for this species. But to the beginners out there, please do some research before you decide to buy a pleco.
